34 - Detonation (Knock) Sensor - apparently it's my wiring, and not the knock sensor; can solder in a resistor and take care of this

35 - Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor (California models)
- This is going to be a bitch. Why? Because when I took my intake manifold off, I didn't have a EGT sensor or place in my harness for one. There's a stock plug there that looks to be from the factory. When I bought the car, the engine had been swapped out for one that wasn't blown.

Do I just swap out ECU's?

This really wouldn't be an issue, but I was trying to get emissions done before my engine swap is completed (I think it would be easier to get it done with the KA + hi-flow cat)

EDIT: CEL is on because of this too.

You shouldn't get a code if you disconnect the knock sensor. I would still fix the harness.

You can put a Resistor in place for the EGT temp sender. Let me look up what ohm it is again...

Any update on the ohm? The problem is that I don't know where to put it. I don't have any obvious unplugged harness connectors (at least at that part of the harness)

CA models and 96+ cars use the EGT sensor, strange you would have that code on a Federal emissions S13.

That was exactly my point.

What ECU?

Is there anyway to just hard wire the knock sensor? (with the "special wiring" and all...)

An update to this: I swapped another ecu in (apparently non-cali standards) and it got rid of the EGT code and CEL (that stays on all the time).

Now I just get the knock sensor code, and CEL with the key in the ON position. When the car is running I no longer get a CEL.

I'll post back when/if I fix the knock sensor wiring.
