Once again, Myssan(shane) and myself are trying to see who all would be interested in extrude honing and swain coating their OEM SR manifolds. After seeing the gains Cody Ace achieved in his setup, I think this is an economic way to go about having a good flowing, reliable manifold w/o any fitment issues(i.e. A/C, PS, etc). In the previous thread these were the interested parties:

OK guys. Here's the following list of people interested in extrude honing:

Myself (myssan ha ha)
JLaCroix (with a VQ part)
Fromxtor
Jsquared (maybe)
SR2Zero
SidewaysNJ
KwKouki (maybe)
NzMoman (maybe)

Who on here is Roman?

Thats 7/8 people. We need a couple more to reach 20% discount. I need to turn these maybe's into DEFINITELY!!! One person backs out and we drop to 10%.

I need clarification on people who want the coating too. Go back and edit your posts to clearly state if you want honing only or both.
This is the body of the old thread, so you dont HAVE to click the link:
I want to send off my stock SR manifold for extrude honing.

If anyone isn't familiar with the process they basically pump a viscous abrasive material through whatever it is that they will hone. AFM Process - Extrude Hone Powerflow (http://gethoned.com/process.html)

Here is the group buy page. I would have to set this up before hand: Extrude Hone Powerflow - Group Buys (http://gethoned.com/group_buys.html)

Pricing w/o group buy. Parts Processing Price List - Extrude Hone Powerflow (http://gethoned.com/parts.php?get_price=yo...show=automotive)

A 4 cylinder manifold is $450.00. W/ group buy it will be about $380.00. I already have a couple people interested.

They do 10% and 20% discounts.
10% requires a group of 4 similar parts
20% requires a group of 10 parts. Flexible on similarity.
Shipping to PA will cost about $15.

People have done this in the past and picked up a substantial amount of power. For me this is a much better option to going with anything less than a Full Race manifold. I didn't want to spend $ on another tubular manifold that was only 302 stainless. You get to keep your OEM fitment, strength of cast iron, and remember the OEM manifold is divided!

Any takers email me: [email protected]

Neither Shane or myself work for either Extrude hone or Swain tech, Neukin(advertiser here) has shown interest in taking care of this deal.

Here is more info on Cody's setup, which is not all that hard to duplicate:
http://forums2.freshalloy.com/showthread.php?t=158176

Anywho, as some have said, it is achievable to reach 400 whp (and more) with a 2871r .64. I've got a stock bottom end redtop, running an 2871r .64 (extrude honed turbine side) and a stock (extruded and swaind) turbo manifold.

Simple parts that work with each other will always produce great results. All to often on these forums do we see mismatched cars that don't make the power they should (top end cams with small turbos, $1000 manifolds with $200 turbos etc etc)

My setup is pretty simple, and everything on the setup is designed to work in a way that creates maximum response and ultimate midrange torque. I take part in/compete in HPDE events, so I wasn't looking for some big power monster, as they are slow on the track, and not fun on the street. (Whats the point in roll racing from 60-120??) I'm a fan of being quick and having an all around animal of a car.

Mods:
Jim Wolf Technologies ECU
Cobra MAF
Mototron 60lbs Injectors
2871r .64 (extruded)
OEM turbo manifold (Extruded and swained)
Jim Wolf S3 Cams
Greddy o2 outlet
3" Downpipe
3" ExMag exhaust
Greddy Intake manifold.
Greddy FMIC setup.

Now this setup 'hopefully' will be making more power in the spring. I'm going to datalog my car, to send back out to JWT for a reflash and to have my water injection map tuned (for track days).

Here's the Dyno Video (the speedo shot was done at 12 psi creeping to full....I will make another video of a speedo shot at a full 20 psi):

SidewaysNJ = Roman

As stated before i am definitely doing this. I might even have 2 manifolds to do. My friend is considering doing his. That will help but we need other people to step it up. Once this GB is over its going to be hard to get another one going.

fromxtor

If your doing two pieces, and your friend commits I think that is enough. I would appreciate if the others who showed interest in the last thread spoke up.

fromxtor,

whats the scoupe on this? I got your PM thanks for keeping me in the loop. Are you still waiting on people who jumped in? When, exactly how much, and where so I can commit. Its been a while and i just made some investments. But I am very interested. I even bought a megan mani and put it on so I would have my manifold ready.

i'd like to join, i have 1 question i have a stock manifold from an S13 SR, and the manifold on my car is stock but i have an S14 blacktop, so is there a difference? Cause i wanted to get the S13 manifold thats not in a car done so theres no down time for my car and i can just put it in. Or can i not do this? Also would there be a benefit for doing the elbow? maybe not honed but at least swain coated for heat?

nzmoman
08-04-2008, 12:05 PM
the manifolds are the same. you can use the s13 one

fromxtor
08-04-2008, 01:14 PM
^^ Thanks Nzmoman, plz read the original thread linked at the top of this one for pricing.

Ineednewtires: The price on coating something that small would probably be low enough you wouldnt need to add it to the GB. But I will hit up Neukin and get a price.

OK, I'm fully ready to do this. I'm gonna ship my stuff soon. Everyone might as well go ahead and ship their stuff too. That way the guy at extrude hone can compile our stuff together. I guess this is how it's supposed to work.

I dont think there is a deadline, but Shane and I are going to be sending ours out soon. I will get the address and other info asap.

I emailed him and I am awaiting a response on exactly how he wants to handle payment, etc. I imagine we will all ship our stuff in labeled as "zilvia group buy" or something like that, he'll compile it together, and when it all shows up he'll start work.

Give it til Monday to hear back from him. I'll post up ASAP.

Josh, you wan to handle the swain coat guys? We have to figure out who wants to do that too and partition those manifolds out and have Rick send them to the coaters. I'm going to send my turbine housing seperately.

I noticed in the thread above that Cody had his turbine housing extrude honed? Maybe I should do that too so it port matches the manifold better.

fromxtor
08-16-2008, 08:04 AM
There a guy on here that is damn good at porting/honing stuff himself, maybe some thing as easy to hone as a turbine housing can be done by him? His name is bigvinnie.

I will get up w/ swain tech and find out more info on monday.

OK folks, here's how this is going to work.

Send your manifold/part in with the following information:
Name
Phone #
shipping address
Group Name (Zilvia.net/Carolina Nissans Group Buy)
Yes or No on sending it to get swain coated.

When they receive your part you will get a phone call where they will set up payment over the phone using a credit card. They take Visa, Master Card, or Discover only.

Ship your stuff now or you are going to make a bunch of people cranky.

Josh, I need to forward the address and information of the swain coaters to [email protected]

Myssan
08-18-2008, 03:41 PM
I just realized that the address on their site doesn't have a street or #.

I'm sending mine off next week, btw Neukin is willing to handle the coating through swain for us. I have asked them to post in this thread to explain what they are willing to do for this GB.

We can get you guys a discount on the coating if we do it all on our account. It also helps my account for the year the more business i do so we both come out ahead. Just let me know if you wanted it done like that.

Thanks -Alex

08-22-2008, 05:53 AM
Hey guys, once its done at Extrude Hone Powerflow (EH), they can send it SwainTech (ST) with a label saying its from Neukin ( i could send EH a Fedex label or what not) That way shipping to Neukin doesnt have to be done and you all save money. When it arrives at ST they contact me and i pay for the manifolds under our account. Im sure we can save you at least $20-10 each(guessing, could be more). Then we can ship out to each of you at the fedex ground rate insured.

Myssan

Not sure how its all going to work out for you guys but once say ExHone is done and there are like 4 manifolds sitting there, have them ship all 4 at once to Swain in one box. Not sure who is handling that but that ship bill would prob be included in your Exhone bill total. They can include something in the box saying these 4 units are being paid for under the Neukin account and they will contact me once your manifolds show at Swain. Then ill need a payment from each manifold owner, say like $80 for now (not alot of surface area so we'll see), then ill adjust once i get the total from Swain.. ill also add Fedex shipping to the total for each owner to get it to you. (We are paying for coating, ship from Swain to Neukin, and shipping to you Fedex/insured and provide tracking etc) -Alex

I got a phone call from EH. They told me only ONE other manifold was received besides mine.

Josh (fromxtor) and I spent a lot of time setting this up for you. You have to the end of this month to send your manifolds. If you don't I hope your accounts get deleted for being sorry members.

EXTRUDE HONE GROUP BUY EXPIRES OCTOBER 30th!!!!!!

This group buy will be my last attempt at trying to EVER do something for the 240sx community again.

For all of those who bailed, thank you for wasting my time, Josh's time, extrude hone's time, and Neukin's time.

Moderators: Please note Josh and I are not a business. We are just two members who wanted to set up a group buy. Thx.

C'mon guys all we need is 8 more ppl/manifolds, getting these processes done to you oem manifold result in a cost effective, reliable manifold. That has been dyno proven to 400+ whp on relitively low boost, utilizing the stock longblock and stage 1 cams. I am willing to wager, with a built block and crank scraper you could reach 500+ hp safely.

fromxtor
10-04-2008, 11:36 AM
Please let Shane or myself know if you have mailed in any more manifolds.

what is the turn around time for this process. i would need it back by the 19th if there is any chance. or i could do it later when i get another manifold.

10-18-2008, 05:18 PM
Mine was $444.89 shipped back to me, thats the 10%. If we can get 7-8 more ppl I will call them back and see about getting the 20% and refunding the few of us who actually shipped ours in.

I've been trying to track down an extrude honing company here in Cali, but can't seem to find it. Anyways, this group buy sounds like a better deal. I'm interested, but I need an extra manifold first! Are all SR manifolds the same?

Also, nobody mentioned how much it would be for the swain coating service.

So we pay to ship our EM to Extrude Hone Corp. 1 Industry Blvd Irwin, PA 15642 before October 30 then pay neukin $444.89 to get it professionally extrude honed, swain coated and shipped back to me? If that's correct then I'm definitely in!

i sent my manifold today...but im not getting it swain coated right after im having a wastegate welded onto the manifold than getting it swain coated...is there anyway i can still get the group deal for the swain coating? (it should only take about 2 weeks no more than that to have it welded on)

^Swain coating "group buy" fell through as neukin doesnt answer thier phone,e-mail, or PMs. You can just ship it to swain yourself, shouldn't be too costly to coat a cast manifold as opposed to a equal length manifold.

10-23-2008, 12:54 PM
so will Extrude Hone be taking our paymants? I think I found a manifold I can ship out.

Neukin has not contacted me back, so I would just be in contact w/ extrude hone. And if you want them to ship it to Swain they can. The $444.89 was just for the extrusion honing and shipping.

so will Extrude Hone be taking our paymants? I think I found a manifold I can ship out.

^^ If you give them your number like Shane(myssan) suggested they will be contacting you.

I got too excited thinking that was the price for both services. I'm sorry to say that I'm going to have to pass for now. BTW, one of the companie's dealers offers the same service for a lot less money. I will be contacting them when I have more time on my hands. Thanks for trying to help out the s-chassis community.
