Like the title says. I am trying to weight my options with different motor swaps. If anybody has any info on a general idea of how much a complete swap would cost. I also would like to know any opinions on reliability, problems with getting replacement parts (thinking rb series motors), and etc.

Here are a couple of motors I had in mind
Blacktop sr20
Rb25det
Rb25dett
Vq35de
Vg30det

Plans for the car would be grip, drag, and or drift + 300 whp would be my ideal goal.

Thanks.

Search Dude http://zilvia.net/f/search.php

But its all up to what your plans for the car are and power goals

But if you want a cheap easy maintainble engine then get the Red Top SR20.

RB25s typically more expensive than an SR20 swap in since theyre not exactly drop ins. Custom mounts, wiring and custom driveshaft are the hindsight of this project. Blacktop S13 SRs are the cheapest option, only thing you have to kinda worry about is the wiring since its not quite as simple when slapping it into an S14 chassis. The only other backdraw of an S13 engine set is that, less and less quality engines are getting into the US market. Most S13 engine sets in the market seem to have something wrong with them...just something to look out for...If you decide to go this route, I'd suggest to thoroughly inspecting the engine and actually modding/upgrading it some to make sure its going to be dependable. Do the usual fresh thermostat, water pump things while the engine is out, but also, Id recommend changing the oil pump now and inspecting to make sure the bottom end is good. Make sure theres no bearing shavings inside the pan. Also, if you decide to change the oil pump, you might as well change the headgasket to an aftermarket one considering the head will probably be off anyways...

bang for buck = RB25DET - $2,000-$2,500
McKinney 4pc mounting kit for RB25DET- S14 95-98 Nissan 240SX- 2 Engine Mounting Bracket w/Mounts ,1 Transmission Mounting Braket, Custom one pc steel drive shaft.=$1,100.00

McKinney RB25DET Motor Mount Kit for S13/S14 240SX (http://phase2motorsports.stores.yahoo.net/mcrbmomokitf.html)

This is the best swap for easy upgrades (SAFC NEO, Exh. , Intake etc.) and more horsepower & tq. than a SR. But then again you cannot go wrong with a SR20DET
