It seems like it would be a disappointment and overly hyped, just trying to make money. I'm not interested.

I think its going to be quite terrible..

first mummy movie was good.

every sequel sucks for some reason.. i can't think of one movie that the sequel was good, other than ocean's 11.. maybe xmen and starwars?

^ I am wondering why the chose to make another for that same reason. Maybe with all the remakes of the older movies the director was like "why the hell not"

I meant it like the dark knight stands out as a shinin beacon of light as to how sequels dont suck......unless they do.....(butterfly effect 2, I'm lookin at you and all your straight to dvd cronies)

that goes without saying, but I couldn't see most of his HK movies (once upon a time in china series for instance) doing well commercially in the US either. 'Hero' didn't get such a good reception here. Lots of ppl in the US get turned off immediately when they see subtitles to begin with.

Same deal with the John Woo films. I don't think he ever made anything here that topped 'hard boiled'. Hong Kong makes a lot of bad movies and they have a lot of their own formulas and cliches, but they are great (if not the best) when it comes to making violent action films. They have a very interesting sense of humor too. I think a lot of it has to do with what Hong Kong audiences are used to, and come to expect. The film industry there is arguably a lot more commercial than Hollywood.

Yes.

The action and fight scenes were weak sauce compared to the first one. I'd take the Casino Royale and upcoming Quantum of Solace James Bond action over the Dark Knight any day of the week. At least Bond really bones the women he surrounds himself with instead of treating them like garnish. Gone is any sense of lyricism leaving the iconic bat costume without a stage decorum and as ridiculously out of place as those polyester super hero costumes worn by unemployed actors on Hollywood Boulevard.

Boring as fuck at the beginning. I fell asleep and woke up wondering "What the fuck are they doing in China???"

And 2 1/2 motherf'ing hours?! What is this? The Titanic??

And finally....

SOMEONE TALKIN SHIT on lethal weapon 4?! WUT!!!

i loved that movie, given i was like 13 when it came out. mel gibson's a pile of shit NOW, but man, that's a great action series. probably the LAST great action series, actually. they don't make movies like that anymore.. i mean, look at die hard. first three were balls out, fourth one got made in the 21st century and it sucks.

somebody needs to nut up and make a NEW R-rated, buddy cop action series. no more reviving old franchises just to ruin them. we need new blood with old school 80's/90's action.

Yeah, I kinda enjoyed that too. It was one of Jet Li's better (if not best) Hollywood roles. I was entertained watching him playing the bad guy. Fun movie. However, his Hong Kong martial arts stuff is just on another level completely. That stuff's intense!

Then again, I do admit by bias against Hollywood action films. Kinda mild enjoyable to eat pop-corn to, and some have camp comedic appeal (Conan the Barbararian, Flash Gordon). But otherwise I find the genre a bit ho-hom, despite a few exceptions like some of the Paul Verohoven & Tarantino films. Original Die Hard was also lots of fun, and I enjoyed Private Ryan when it first came out in the cinema. the vast majority of the genre felt like a rehash of one another, considering heavy use of formulas that few stand out as memorable.

Sorry if im getting OT. I love discussing film.

Why do say Mel Gibson is a POS? I think he's done generally well as an actor. His directing work was a bit corny, but I wouldn't go that far.

Agreed that the remakes have gone too far. We do need new ideas for a new time. I say make X-rated, no holds-barred films! I see no reason why that privilege should be limited to foreign films and pornos. Decency be damned!

he's a religious nut and refuses to do action movies but directs the goriest movies ever, and he's an overt racist.

It wasn't too bad. Def not a summer block buster or anything. My parents and sister were in town so we all went to see it. Good times.

If you're looking for an oscar winner or an edge of your seat, mind blowing adventure then you're gonna be disappointed.
