Sound of Old/Dying Exhaust?

I've had my aftermarket exhaust for 5+ years now and while I know nothing lasts forever, I wanted to know if the sound(s) get louder/quieter over time?

The muffler's packed w/ the fiberglass insulation and that stuff will burn out, or get packed down making it less effective so will my car sound/get louder over time due to this or quieter?

Stupid question, I know but since I'm in California -- I'm trying to avoid as much attention as possible.

Ive always seen the fiberglass buching up in the pipe = Causing it to get quiter then getting blown out = then louder

the fiberglass in my old exhaust crapped out and pretty much just blew out and now theres no insulation and it got annoyingly loud and rattles...so to answer your question it gets louder
