I am in the process of installing all my turbo parts together. My questions is, what would be a good choice for tuning? I have a SAFC, but i've heard good/bad things about it. What about Enthalpy or EFI?? If i get it tune from them, would it just be plug and play and ready go? Or should i just get a Dyno tune with the SAFC? BTW way my setup is

SR T28
SR SMIC
AEM Wideband
N60 MAF
NGK BRK7E plugs

a pre-tune setup is the easist way to go. either JWT, Enthalpy and heard good things about steve shadow tune ups.

Me myself was rockin JWT for a good 60,000 miles before my motor gave. they run it rich so dont expect good MPH.

yea, if youre not power hungery then a nice rom tune is the way to go and just lean things out with an safc on a dyno. using just a piggyback to tune is not so sweet.

so if i get the ecu from Enthalpy, my car should be driveable from the tune?? It cost $600. I don't really want to spend alot of money. I'm on a budget.

Yes, an Enthalpy tune should be good to go right out of the box. I ran an Enthalpy ECU for a year before I decided to make the switch to a Calum RT ECU.

If you want to save some money and be able to adjust the tune yourself, go to the SR20 forums and search for Calum Realtime ECU. Also, a good friend of mine does ROM tunes for a pretty good price. He's making in excess of 500hp on E85 from his tunes. I could hook you up with him too.

There's more options than most know of for our ka-t's :bigok:

for the amount of power you can make with your t28, just tuning your motor on your safc2 should be more than sufficient. only thing i'd recommend since you're still stock bottom end would be not going above 8-9psi. that way you'll still own ur sr20 friends and you'll have plenty of time to enjoy the car while you're saving up for more mods.

good luck man, ka-t ftw

hmmm....if the SAFC is good enough then i guess i'll go with it. I'm not looking for crazy hp..just something to get some speed. I am going to run the t28 internal wastegate. Would it matter if it's a SAFC 1 or 2? Cuz i have the SAFC 1. Since i have the N60 MAF and SR 370cc injectors would both of these compensate for each other?? Would it make my car run better w/the safc tuned?? Anyways, thanks for all the advice guys!

I think you were pertaining to MPG.. its pretty obvious, but I just wanted to put it out there in case there are still those who are confused

I beleive enthalpy, efi, and JWT do not tune for N60 maf. I think maybe emance does but I think that is it.

Id buy a tuned ecu because it does have timing control. Id keep the safc for minor adjustments and for the deceleration feature it has. But if you dont have the funds for the tuned ecu you could just street tune your setup. If you tune it more on the rich side, knock back timing on the dizzy, and keep the boost at stock level you will be fine.

Get the enthalpy. You can get the safc too if you want to do some fine dyno tuning. Just run the safc settings @ 0% so that it doesn't mess w/ the enthalpy program. But enthalpy's tunes are pretty damn good from the get go and don't really require an safc for fine tuning.

safc1 has 8 tuning points, safc2 has 12 tuning points, safc neo has 8 on easy and 16 on pro mode.

tuning points are the specific rpms to adjust. the more you have the closer you can set them together so you can get a straighter air/fuel ratio

safc1 will be fine for you. install it and get your car on a dyno.

no the maf and the injectors won't compensate for one another, you need to get the car tuned.

stock sr20 with safc2 and z32 maf, t25, stock injectors etc, i tuned last week at stock boost,7.7psi made 165hp, i did 4 more dyno pulls and got [email protected], that's 50hp in 15minutes on a motor that comes turbo from the factory etc etc.

my point to you is. put in your safc and GET IT TUNED. you'll make more power and you'll know it's safe. as opposed to running like shit and not knowing whether you're hurting the motor or not.

Thanks Dave, I guess i'm going with the safc tuned for now, since i''m just boosting at stock w/g, but i'll definally upgrade to a better tuning system in the future. Maybe Enthalpy, jwt, efi, aem, etc..

if your on a budget you could always learn howto tune the ecu your self, the ka ecu will need a daughterboard soldered in to allow you to tune the rom yourself.theres a guy on the sr20 forum and alot of other nissan forums, calum that makes daughterboards that can let you live tune the ecu, but none the less to tune you current ecu u need a daughterboard <200$ and some rom chips <10$. or find a used jwt ecu, im on somewhat a similiar route that you are, kinda lol, i have a sr20de n/a distributor ran motor, that im using the ka harness to run. i bought a used jwt ecu for cheap , 125 w/ maf , and i can either tune it myself or send it to jwt for like 50$ for a retune. ECCS • Index page (http://eccs.hybridka.com/) this site has a whole bunch of info on tuning nissan ecu's , one of the first people i heard of running the sr20de on a k/a harness had the motor run on a ka ecu. any how i went on a ramble but some budget options starting with the best would be...

1) used jwt ecu
2)tune your ecu
3)stock ecu with a safc or safc II ( have this dyno tuned, or tune it yourself with a wideband o2 sensor)
