ok I know there's a pic thread, but I think this car kicks ass enough to have its own thread.

here she is, please ignore the awful stickers from the previous owner, and yes its staying yellow.

1972 VW Beetle with the Baja Kit. Mostly Stock 1600cc flat 4, air cooled, 4 speed.

stiizy

no no and uh no.

no subie power in this thing. why? I dont want to have to mount a radiator and run all the cooling bullshit.

I love the fact this thing is air cooled, it makes it so much simpler.

Antihero983

red, i know i promised you some bug mags and i wont let you down, i just started a new job as a bartender and money is tight at the moment, but i have the mags in an envelope with your addy already on them just awaiting a trip to the p.o. so dont get discouraged.

and that front end can hard to find so never get rid of it. (unless its for the right price)

^dont sweat it SW, I know you're good for it!

life happens!

and i love the front end, it makes it look like a gremlin, and at night the lights are dim so it makes it look creeeeeeeeeepy!

and sean, yes it drives better than the Z lol

and hypertek, it runs rich, sounds like a rotary and backfires like a rotary LAWLZ. at night it shoots flames!

the stinger is baffled, due to the fact that Ive seen one on youtube with one and it was hella fucking loud lol

and i have a really stupid question...

Which screw adjusts the carb? it runs wicked rich, and won't idle when warmed up. I've been looking but no one actually describes which screw to adjust, and im all set fucking shit up.

Ah, air cooled :D

One of the first cars I ever tinkered with was a 65 Type I. I used to live outa the EMPI catalouge haha. Had a little Hurst H pattern with trigger up reverse, monza headers....

That thing was the BEST in the snow...it could be 0 degrees, and that little car would fire right up, and put right outa the spot. No hp, and all the weight over the axle helps tho haha.

Cool Buggy Though. Those stinger pipes look awesome at night.

Bajas are amazing little cars. I can go places 4x4 won't even look at.Having the engine behind the drive wheels puts whe weight just where it needs to be. Check out TheSamba.com :: Volkswagen Classifieds, photos, shows, forums, and information (http://www.thesamba.com) or shoptalkforums.com.
As far as a new engine, google Anibal Chico or search that name on the samba.Great VW engine builder and fair prices too.
I was googling for some new parts for my Baja and just stumbled onto your post. Enjoy that Baja !!!
