Hey guys, thanks for reading my thread.. And thanks for any info/help you can give me.

Heres the deal. I bought an 89 240 last month after being without a car and a job for 3-4 months. Basically when I got the car I couldn't afford to isure it right away, but I did go to an interview like 2 days later. Well just so happened after my interview where I GOT A JOB, I was turning left and someone ran the red light and hit me. I'm not worried about fault or anything like that. The problem is that I've got a citation for no proof of insurance. It says if I provide proof everything will be okay, but I didnt have insurance. I dont have that job anymore because I couldnt get to work, and I cant afford to get my license suspended + fine because then how am I going to pay it with no job? Is there any way that I can get out of this? Has anyone had this happen to them?

Before you respond telling me how stupid I am for not having insurance:

1. I live in the middle of nowhere. There is no way that I can get to work without a car.
2. I bought the car for very VERY cheap, the money was borrowed from my mom.
3. I couldn't borrow anymore money from my mom for insurance because she had just lost her job. (lay off)

Please dont flame me for this, I'm asking for your help. I've already gone through enough problems with my mom getting hurt in the accident and not having a car again.

Thank you.

Oh BTW, since I didnt have a car/insurance for the 4 months before I got this car, I didn't have that 3 days of insurance or whatever.

They're supposed to provide insurance for 30 days if you bought it from a dealership. The police station will not call an insurance agency and ask for proof, so what you can do is take an old copy of an insurance card, scan it into your computer, change the information and the dates, and present it to them. Tell them that's all you have. If you have a copy of a policy to go with it, then all the better, you can change that too. If you don't have a document, let me know, I might have something. Also, if you need a phone number for them to call... if my cell is working, I can give that number to you and I can play insurance agent, or you can ask a friend to do it for you, I'm sure they won't mind. Good luck with everything!

From experience I can suggest getting insurance now and presenting that in court and they will most likely drop it. At least around here they do. Of course you may not have the money for the upfront premium. Other than that I do know people who have used the other method posted and it almost always worked for getting pulled over but I'm not sure about in front of a judge. Sometimes your only have to show it to the county clerk and they are basically just secretaries. No offense to any county clerk people.
