I have had a wierd ticking noise in my engine bay i traced to my exhaust manifold and today i took the sheild off of the manifold and only one side of the manifold has bolts! the to wouldn't take a new bolt and the stud that should be at the bottom isn't there.
does this mean i have to tap/die my engine :/? is this happen much?

No you can fix it real ezily with the bolts from Nissan that you can get for about $4 a piece. Use lots of wd-40 and get new gaskets and it should be fixed in about 30 min. I didnt have to tap/die my bolts because they were just missing off my 89 SOHC Jalopy, although one of the bolts I couldnt get it, it didnt leak anymore because of the new gasket. If they are broken then get a drill set with a screw extractor, Sears sells them.

might want to put a new exhaust gasket too.
the existing gasket might have being blown since it did not have strong even clamping force across the flange. Also the flange might be warped a bit from the hot exhaust gas escaping to only one side.
New gasket is probably recommanded
