I bought this 240 like 3 months ago and this was mu first time changing the oil on my car. Ever since i changed my oil my mpg went down. I use to get around maybe 27 sometime's but i noticed that they went down since i took it to a jiffy lube to change my oil. I think i get around 23 now. What Can I do to get better gas milage? What type of oil should I buy and does the type of oil i buy affect my gas milage?

If you care about your 240 don't ever take it to Jiffy Lube.

240's love a good crisp peach.
You just have to feed it once a day. It's unhappy and acting out right now.
if they put too much oil and if there using 5-20 you kould loose mpg.
check your dip stick.
23 is pretty good.

I wouldnt know the guy who i bought the car off changed the odometer, so it does not have the original milage.

Sounds like they put in the wrong oil grade. They commonly use 5w-20 because almost all new japanese cars use it. They're trying to save money by only ordering most of the same grade oil for their supply.
So yeah don't ever take your car to Jiffy Lube.
To help MPG, change air filter, fuel filter, spark plugs, dist cap/rotor, O2 sensor, clean grounds, run some fuel injector cleaner (twice a year), swap in a new catalytic converter, change tranny & diff oil (alot of people ALWAYS forget this), service coolant system.
Good luck.

i think jiffy lube mickey moused your car by unplugging something there so you lose mpg and thus will make you comeback to them for bigger service. some shops do that....so be careful.

i would check air filter and fuel filter and o2 sensor and then change plugs. see if that helps. do one step for each fuel fill up and see which one caused it.

Did your 'check engine' light come on? If so, I'm pretty sure that your ECU will automatically adjust A/F ratios so you'll run lean until the code gets cleared. This might add to loss in fuel economy also.
It sounds a little fishy that you brought it to a Jiffy Lube and started to get lower MPGs. Next oil change, use a 10W-30 type oil and make sure you replace the oil filter. I've seen stories online about how they don't even change your oil filter to cut around costs.

If it's a 5sp, you can get huge increases in mileage by shifting at lower rpms, not speeding like crazy etc. I started shifting at 3k all the time and noticed big increase. Dunno what my average is though.

um first of all dont take your car to jiffy lube thats like punishment for a car haha and save money and do that oil your selve, and as far as getting better gas milage, do a tune up, so oil change, new spark plugs, new fuel filter, a 300zx one is really good =] and new air filter and your car should pretty much love you! and also try running on 91 i have done this to all my 240s and they run like champs
