View Full Version : Bad Radiator?

My KA is having cooling issues.
Now I have a new thermo, new waterpump. Same dilemma. Burped the system, bleeder screw, jacked up front end..all that jazz.
Usual symptoms:
Top radiator hose is hot, bottom cool. Radiator boils coolant after about 3 mins at idle. Radiator is burning hot to touch. Coolant drains freely from it.
Heater deleted for now, simple U hose connection on back, I can feel it flow freely through it.

Would my timing possibly being off affect this in any way? Also Im running eneos 0-w20 which should be fine correct?

So:
Radiator?
Timing?
Oil?

Ill try to double check my timing soon. But Im hoping you guys think its the radiator.
I searched, but it always came down to burping the air, which im now proficient at after doing it about 3 times in the course of a day. lol.
Thanks guys.

Timing being off, yes depending on how much it's off
I don't think it's your radiator unless but not limited to, every single fin is bent, clogged, big object blocking in coming air, hoses backwards... as you can see a radiator is a simple device.
What type of fans are you running? Type of coolant? Timing is easier to fix than even flushing the radiator. That oil may be a problem for you. just see what happens, if you run what nissan recommends or a zero weight, 30 or 40.
