:cry:One of my rear brakes are dragging. Its a horrible grinding sound and it feels like the car's brake is on untill I get upto speed, and the brake releases.
It seems like the pad is gone, thus the metal is grinding away the rotor. I need a set of pads quick to last a few months of daily driving.
I saw autozone had some duralast golds for 30, and beck arnley's for 40. Would you guys risk it for the rears?

The autozones I can get, at least to get me back on the road......while I wait for the OEM rears to be shipped which is like a week
isnt the beck and arnley ones near OEM?

I had the same problem... when I took a look at everything the pad was worn all the way down plus some, and the rotor had half of the material missing haha. There were metal shavings everywhere and the noise I heard while coming to a stop was absolutely hilarious.
Make sure that there are no deep grooves in the rotor. You might need new rotors like me, but autozone pads will last you until you get pads of higher quality.
Shit's built to last at least.

pep boys has rear pads for ten bucks.
one of my rear calipers is *almost* seized, so i threw those on for now so i don't have to worry about burning through expensive pads.
They'll overheat so fast you won't be able to use your ebrake more than a few times consecutively, no matter how hard you pull it, haha.

Pft I got autozone pads on my daily. Phuck yes. $15 for the rears. Nothing wrong with it until you get better. I think you can seize your brakes if you don't replace your pads?

as long as there is pad left you can exchange them for brand new ones even if you only use them for a few day no joke no questions just exchanged....sweeeeeeetttttt
Sounds like your caliper is seized, so I'd fix that first.

Autozone pads are crap, all of them. If you just need something for temporary use then fuck it, use the cheap shit. Anyone who thinks that autozone pads are fine to use as a long term solution is an idiot. You will have to replace the pads twice as much, as they wear quickly, and they like to eat rotors too. Sumitomo is OE, NOT beck arnley.

I can vouch for this.. I did it this morning, and I agree with Racepar.. My pads didnt even last a year till they started to make a seriously bad grinding noise, then again its mainly due to the fact that I need to bleed my rear brakes, my left rear hella uses up the pad while the right was still pretty beefy.

yea i got the autozone's all the way around, my car stops fine lol. and they even came with a lifetime warranty for as long as i own the car. so i dont care if they run out in 2 days or 2 years. pretty sure they were these:
AutoZone.com | Shopping | Zip Code (http://www.autozone.com/R,2214658/vehicleId,1035401/initialAction,partProductDetail/store,/partType,01233/shopping/partProductDetail.htm)
and rears:
AutoZone.com | Shopping | Parts | Product Detail - Brake Pads - Rear (http://www.autozone.com/R,1566140/vehicleId,1035401/initialAction,partProductDetail/store,5341/partType,01234/shopping/partProductDetail.htm)
my ebrake locks up just fine. then again i've never used the baller stuff, so im comparing it to what was on it before. i just know they lock up 20times better than what was on there.

the pads aren't meant for aggressive driving. they're good for daily driving and that's pretty much it.
I got some pads from one of those Auto places, they were $24 for the set. They work fine, and I ebrake a lot. Lock at triple digits and such, so whatevs.

i acutally happen to work that and if you get the regular duralast pads they make to much dust and suck, i have the same problem with a caliper hanging up on the rear and i do use the regular duralast pads just because i dont care if they get tore up, get the golds sometimes they are a bit better, we used to sell morse ceramics and ive had them on my car with drilled brembo rotors for a while now and they are great but yet being a dumb company they stopped selling them, but on the other hand they were a sell through item and if your lucky your local store may have a set left

does this problem also sound like an ebrake being siezed? When I bought the car it didnt make any noises. I went to bleed one of the calipers and now it seems all hell broke loose. I couldnt bleed the others because the bleeder bolts snapped like a carrot.
Im going to get off work early today and see if I can relube the caliper pins. Because the rear brake thats making noise I can move the pad around wtih my fingers through the wheel, Like the pads are almost a few mm's too small

i have went through Advanced Auto Parts rear brake pads pretty quick. I dont recommend them for any other driving than daily. I'm now running a set of Tokico pads (i dont know who actually manufactures them), and they've been lasting forever.

My mom runs autozone pads, they last about 2 years, but she has the gold so they give them to me free as soon as they put my name in the computer, I don't even have to ask. I run $10 autozone chinese pads on my cavalier, they last just fine, front and back. The last time I replaced them they didn't need it, I just figured I would throw a new set on while its apart. I also have them on my explorer, holding up just fine for a daily driver.

my caliper on my rear passenger side is so messed up it acutally put enough stress on my brake cable to snap it, and i dont race or use it for anything but being parked, even with this cable broken it took me and my friend to muscle the piston back
and i even have the correct tool(meaing i didnt use needle nose) the driver side was put on when i bought the car and it turns back just fine in the end im goin to have to rebuild this caliper im just waiting till im not lazy and buy the kit and a new brake cable
