I'll be moving to California in mid September from GA. I've been wondering if I would get pulled over and get a ticket for my car being modified. I have a S13 hatch with a RB20 in it some basic upgrades done to it. My muffler is large also I have a Apxi N1 that has a 4.5in tip. Sorry if this is a repost of some sort I searched but I didn't find anything similar to my situation. I'll be keeping my GA license and insurance too but I'll be living with some family thats in San Jose.

cop could harass you if they would like to, but maybe your car would get stolen before that. CA cops like to pick up modified cars, especially honda and 240sx. also if i remember correctly, if you plan to stay in CA more than 30 days, you suppose to get CA plate and license. please look up for CA DMV site for out state vehicle and driver regulation.

if your new place do not have a garage and you don't want headache with law enforcement, maybe you should sell your car before you move.

^^^or sell his exhaust or get a baffle.

I really haven't had a hard time with not getting pulled over as long as I don't drive like an idiot.....or show up at a meet in a parking lot....ehem.....I'm just sayin... lol.

Sell it and dont bring a swapped car to cali. Then you do not have to deal with all the gay emissions crap out there.

just don't drive like an idiot and you'll be fine. ive never experienced being pulled over just for mods. only time i got in trouble was for being parked at the wrong place at the wrong time.

When your car is parked on the street cops will basically take/impound or w.e your car if its modified? I know I'm exposed to register the car in Cali after 30 days and all that jazz. I wasn't planning to do that though I was going to keep my car registered in GA and keep my GA license and insurance saying I'm registered in GA. I know they might catch on a little later when they see my car like 1 month and then later on they might see it like 4 months later.

I was thinking about the baffle dealo and just sell the exhaust on a local forum. Not driving like an idiot is easy I don't have a problem not doing that.

I would like to keep it but if I'm forced to sell it then I will. Since I was planning to keep my car registered in GA the emissions deal wouldn't be a problem. I have my car registered in a county that doesn't require emissions so all I do to get my tag re-newed is go in and pay for a little new sticker and its all good. I was going to have a family member do that for me and send them the cash to pay for it and a little extra for them doing it for me.

its been covered before, but if you do leave it registered in another state and you are not living there, you can really get screwed over if you get caught
