so i posted before about my sr compression problem as of right now my compression is 90 across the board. I did a leak down test 1, 2 cylinder read low and 3 and 4 read the the line between low and medium. Im confused i was sure that my compression was low because of my valves not shutting!

my motor, sr20 with 272 bc cams, springs retainers 560cc injectors, 1.1 apexi headgasket and arp head studs.

when i was rebuilding my head i sent it to a shop to do the valve job, i got a three angle valve job, and they put bronze sleeves and new valves in it. Could it still be the valves.? My cam timing its good i checked, rechecked and checked again. (seriously so many times i can do it with my eyes closed.!! )

im figuring its not that i have leak in my hg. i had my head decked my i didnt have my blocked decked i just sanded it and shit.

and info would help thanks.....

Get a leak down tester...

Pressurize each cylinder with it.

With a mechanics stethascope listen to the intake, exhaust manifold and crank case. You'll hear the air running out and theres your problem. Sometimes a new head on an old bottom end can take out weak rings. I don't understand it myself but it's just a fact of life.

A good way to check mechanics work on your head before you bolt it on is put the head on it's side. Pour mineral spirits down each port. The mineral spirits in the ports shouldn't go down more than .5" after 5 minutes. The seal should be that good.

listen for air during your compresstion test

air from the exhaust = bad exhaust valves
air from t/b = bad exhaust valves
air bubbles in coolent tank or raidiator = bad head gasket
air from oil fill cap = bad rings

also make sure that when doing test that cylinder is in the comprestion stroke and not the exhaust
