at a stoplight.... light turned green, i closed the gap between me and the truck (old ford with a huge steel bumper) in front of me, but it was still stopped, so i stopped too, sadly, though, the girl behind me didn't... my car hit the old ford from the impact, and the person driving it just drove away.... so i get out of the car, inspect my rear bumper and see that there wasn't any damage, so i told the girl not to worry about it. so i got back in my car and drove off, when i reached my destination, i inspected my front bumper and found a series of nasty scrapes.... i was mad at myself for letting the girl go at first, but then i realized it wouldnt have mattered because the truck that my car hit drove off, and i didnt have proof that the scrapes on my front bumper were from that..
anyways now i have to paint it, and since i cant come up on any AH3 cherry red pearl paint, i was wonder what color i should paint my front bumper? maybe black...
everyone, please throw in your opinions---ive included a picture.

iirc, it would have been your fault for hitting the car infront of you, not the girl behind you. why? because you didnt leave adequate gap. you should never "close the gap". just wait till the vehicle infront takes off completely. when you stop make sure you can see the car in front of you rear tires. that may be "grandma" driving but you wont be rear ending anyone after you get rear ended. just fyi...anyways..

now is a good time to practice body work!
i say PRIMER BLACK yeah.....:)

.....and some red and orange flames haha.

actually that's what im thinking too. do the whole car that color. then when you get more money just get the entire thing repainted haha...

i hate burgundy color. i have the same on my car..bleh. need somethng i LIKE to look at.

sucks about the accident. no serious rear damage on bumper, etc?

yep i hate it, too..but it was the best 240 i could find at the time. it's a 93 5spd base model, had 75,000 miles when i bought it for $3,450

hmm whole car flat black? sounds interesting....

the back bumper is fine...the front got scraped because my car went under the truck's steel bumper.

That sucks bro. I have actually done the same thing before. Some lady backed up into me and left a big ass dent but I just let her go because her entire family was there and they were on a long road trip from Ohio. I didn't want to put a damper on her trip.

Just remember - Karma. What goes around comes around.

Maybe some day you will slide and hit someone and they will be kind enough to let you go as well. :)

You can probably get the entire car repainted for 1 or 2k?

How much are you looking to spend?

I think it would look ugly if you just painted the bumper black and left everything else the burgandy it is now.

Flat Black? Ack. But hey, whatever.. If you can't afford to get the whole thing sanded and sprayed, you could just do the sanding and priming yourself. By doing this you could also fix any dents or deep scratches that you have. You can also fix the scrapes in the front. I got my car car resprayed over the summer and I saved about $1000 by sanding it and priming it myself.

i rather get a cheap ass bra for the car, which is what i'm doing now lol. :D , until i got the money for a whole paint job. plus it doesn't look too bad with the bra on imo.

iirc, in many states if you hit a car in the rear, you are automatically at fault.... BUT she hit you as well, so when Jim Bob Joe finds you and sues you for scratchin his crome, you sue her for the exact same ammount... chain reaction collision, chain reaction consequences.

In all reality, I HATE MY ****ING BRA!! I have a black 180 with a bra and its sooo nasty...The only reason I MAY put it back on is... well Ill edit or repost a pic...

Hmm....

over here its technically not your fault because the last car to cause impact is the one at fault because its "failure to prevent an accident" or something like that.

As for the damage...its not that serious....don't repaint the bumper black.

My friend had the same scrap on his MX-6 on the front bumper and rear bumper...I took him to a very good shop that sanded, prepped and painted both spots for only $100 and they match the paint perfectly. Well they actually sanded, prepped and painted to whole upper rear bumper...but still its not bad for $100.

Try to see if you can find a shop that will only do that spot....you will save money that way.

haaaa...she was decent.

well, i don't know. money's tight right now... even if i sand it and prime it, i won't be able to afford a paint job for a while.
i'll manage though. thanks everyone.

Hmm.....

I would still consider just getting some estimates from any shops. Usually the ones hiding will give you the best estimate. The damage is not THAT bad....so you can drive around with it while you save up. Yea I know its tough....but atleast you don't need a new bumper.

Just goto Pep Boys and get Bull Dog Spray Paint Adhesive Spray, and a can of your car color... spray the BD and wait five minutes... then spray your color... and your good to go!!

my boy sprayed a chrome bumper with that **** like two years ago...several bumps and dings later that **** STILL hasnt chipped or cracked!!

They have them everywhere. All I have to say is, you get what you pay for. They do sh!t ass paint jobs and you will probably spend more fixing it.

I said it before and i'll say it again, I have had nothing but good Macco experiences. Remember each one is individually owned, you should beable to see the quality of their work (or lack there of) in their parking lot.

If you go to maaco, try and prep the bumper you're going to paint. I heard maaco doesn't like doing the sanding and priming and even then, they overspray.
