maybe a stupid question but will it work? I have a crack in my powersteering line and id like to patch it up.
Also, lets say I didnt patch it up and just decided to have no power steering would my rack lock up cause its not being lubricated? idk if that makes sense but it is it possible?

your rack will not last as long either way. Just get another line.

If its your hi-pressure line good luck trying to patch it
you can't just patch a ps hose ....it's like patching a garden hose with duct tape
buy some new hoses, braided stainless steel would be best, if it's the reservoir hoses you are just plain cheap.. remove them and bring em to an auto parts store and they can cut you new ones in the same size :|
the rack itself is based off a hydraulic design failure to pump fluid into that will most likely destory it.. I wouldn't recommend you do it for very long if you do

If it's just a little tiny leak between two fittings or something like that go out and buy some Lucas Oil Power Steering Repair. I used it on my leaky power steering system and it doesn't leak anymore. But my leaks were between fittings. If that doesn't work for you you'll need a new line. They're usually not too expensive but they're a pain to fix.
