...and you happen to have the car up on jackstands, with the oil drained and the IC pipes taken apart, and you go to turn the ignition on and off to test if the timer works...make sure it's in neutral. :duh:
I was installing my Stri timer yesterday. I had spent time researching which wires I should be tapping into, so I thought I had everything right. I wire everything up, put the battery cable back on, and turn the ignition on. The timer lights up the way it's supposed to. It's ~95* out, so I fiddle with it for all of 5 seconds before I'm satisfied and head back inside. I turn the ignition off......the starter activates, the engine turns, the car jumps off the jackstands and lurches halfway out of the garage before I get it shut down  Thankfully nothing's damaged, as far as I can tell, except I ran over my shop light.
The timer wires are supposed to run to 12V constant, IGN ON, and ACC. I'm guessing that since the car tried to start when I turned the ignition off, I have the IGN ON wire tapped into the START wire instead.
I tried to use g6civcx's post here (http://zilvia.net/f/showpost.php?p=2018711&postcount=18), but the wire colors mentioned don't match up to the colors on the key cylinder. The wiring coming off the ignition, and the corresponding colors on the harness, are as follows:
Ignition wire---|---Corresponding harness wire---|---Function
-----------------------------------------------------------
White/red-----|---White-----------------------|---12V power
Black/white----|---Black/red--------------------|---Starter signal????
Black/yellow---|---Black/white------------------|---ACC ON
Blue-----------|---Blue------------------------|---??????????
Black/green---|---Black/yellow-----------------|---??????????
I'm trying to find the information in the FSM on which wire I should be tapping into for IGN ON, but if anyone knows off the top of their head (a 900 page PDF is kinda hard to navigate)......please, fill in the blanks. :)
