I am planning on driving from Indianapolis, IN to Fairfield, OH to pick up an S14 blacktop sr20det from Zerolift tomorrow. I was told the original price is $2,350 for the motor, tranny, ecu, etc (basically everything besides FMIC, tubing, and whatnot).
The motorset I'm interested in is actually missing the MAF, which bugs me a little (price is reduced to $2,250 b/c of missing MAF)
. I have searched and searched and there are so many different opinions on what will and wont work to replace the stock MAF (z32, q45, ka sohc...) The interesting thing is I e-mailed Jspec and will quote this:
honestly you are screwed, s14 sr comes with 2 different maf, and all
maf/ecu/harness has to be matching or else it won't work.
it's the reason why we said on our FAQ not to buy just engine and tranny alone.
Is it true that only a stock s14 sr20det MAF will work with stock ECU and tuning??? I really need this answered, please help!

i had the same problem, just sucked it up and got a rom tune and a z32 maf. sourcing the right maf is difficult at best.

After you get back into town, let me know if you've found out anything about the correct MAF for your S14 SR20. I have a mint redtop MAF that I've been trying to sell and I assume it might also work for the S14.

no it will not work.
you either need an s14 maf or a rom tune with any maf it is tuned for.

any 69F01 or 69F00 maf will work

only S14 or S15 maf's will work.

Nothing else will.

If you use a redtop maf, sohc maf, z32 maf,

they all will need a rom tune, or an safc to correct it.
