ugh despite how much horsepower it may have, I am still no fan of the 2jz swapped 240's. No offense to anyone with one, but IMO the heart of the car should be made by the same company as the car. That and s14.5's are kind of fugly too.

probably because most of the people on here don't care for drag. i for one just don't look good in a womens clothing.

but seriously, i will go to the drag strips to have fun every once and a while, but i never see any 240 guys taking it serious like the corvette or foxbody guys. most S chassis guys are all about a balance between power and handling and therefore do not understand / respect when people build to extremes.

Naw not that deep, I can see that the 2jz is a great engine. Its a great engine made by toyota, I wouldnt want a toyo engine in a nissan, a nissan engine in a toyo, an ls 1 in either, ect. If toyo bought part of nissan and helped devlop the engine, then puttin a 2jRb in a nissan would be okay, but as long as their are serparate companies then I would prefer too keep each company's engines to each company's cars. but this is all IMO.

I know a couple ppl with some high hp 2Js in everything from Supras, IS300 and SC300. One of em has 3.4L IS300 w/ a T88. I heard it start up once, it was like god came down on earth and tombs started turning over.

On another note, I really hate when people are so against hybrid swaps. We build cars so they do what we want them to do. If your meeting that goal, then who cares if you pop your hood and the name on the valve cover is different from the body. The 2j is just one motor that was amazingly engineered. If i was into drag racing, Id probably put one in an S chassis.

Many car manufacturers buy each others' stocks. So in essence, they all own each other, if that makes any sense.

I'm willing to bet you that GM's pension fund has at least 1 Nissan stock. That makes GM a co-owner of Nissan. Would a GM engine into a Nissan be okay? Keep in mind that GM and Nissan are still negotiating a joint venture.

With publicly traded companies, there is nothing preventing Toyota from owning part of Nissan, making Toyota and Nissan be the same company with different subsidiaries.

You seem to more concerned with the sticker on the engine than the actual corporate structure.

I ask you again. Would a 4G63 into an S-chassis be acceptable? Keep in mind that Fuji Industries, which owns Mitsubishi, owns stocks in many car manufacturers, including Nissan at one point.

^its not really the sticker. Aight its like this the SR, KA, RB, VQ all were made by Nissans for nissan the 1J/2j by toyo for toyo, the same with the LS1 and chevy. If chevy helped develop the RB would I put one in a monte carlo, no, because it orginally came in a Nissan. This may not seem that logically, and it prolly isnt, but thats just how I feel. To me engine swappin cross brands is like eating a mcdonalds hamburger on burger king's buns. Some may like it, but its juss not for me.

Enough with the whining (mine and others), serious question:

Who would buy a dragster that is that build up? It seems to me that a great deal of drag racing is building the car because, to be honest, most of the racing is a straight line. I am not trying to say driver skill isnt important in drag racing, just that since it is such an outwardly simple race ( i know there is more to it) and since it is so short, the engineering of the car becomes a big part of the identity of a drag racing team/driver.

I can only really see two people who would have the money to buy this car:

Dumb rich kid who believes the "can beat a ferrari on the highway, and "PWN aLL BiTCheS." However, why would he do this? He can go get an M3 like everyone else (or RS4) and still get plenty of poontang ;) Plus, no way he will be able to drive it nor would he likely understand why anyone would admire it.

Second, a racing team might have the money to afford 35-45K (I assume the reserve is that high, just seems about right to me) on a car, but as stated above, doesnt that miss the point of drag racing?

I am not trying to say the car isnt cleanly and well executed. I am saying I dont like it and that I dont see where the market for it would be. I dont need to fucking open my mind. I opened it, looked at the listing, and decided that I found the car in this capacity (that is, being sold) useless. Now if this were an "awsome build thread" or something, I can understand the purpose built attitude. But as an item for sale, no sir!

Seriously, I understand. But who has 35K+ to drop on a purpose built car? That requires serious dedication to drag to save up that much disposable income that can be casually dropped, and if you are that dedicated why havent you learned to do maintainance, build the car, etc?

I just dont see it. Seriously. Some of that was rather impolitely intended but overally I really just dont get who would drop 35K+ on a car "legitimately" aka in a manner in which zilvia would respect it :). You know what I am trying to say.

The same way seeing a millionare with a ferrari doesnt make that person cool to you (well, I dont know about you, but not to me). The car may be cool, but if you didnt buy it for a reason (and it really has to only make sense to you, but you should ahve a reason) then really, you are just dumping money on some fad.

I guess you could say "Yay, cool, great" but then you would be skipping the point entirely.

So, let's change the subject slightly:

Who do you think would actually buy this car? or has someone already? and what would they do with it (besides drag, that is obvious)? Would they show up to a drag race and brag about this awsome car that someone else they dont really know built? I understand the enjoyment of driving and driving fast etc. But a big part of drag would seem to be the build process. without that, you are just some other dick in a silly looking machine going much to fast in a straight line.
