I was making an auction for ebay, when I couldn't find my usb cord for my Sony camera. I had just bought a 2 gb San disk pro duo card, so what did I try? I slipped it into my SD card slot, and my computer recognized it!!! Worked like a charm!!!!

I could just imagine all the ppl trying it and then wondering how the fuck they're going to get that thing out once it gets stuck. Most slots read damn near all cards as long as it fits, I wouldn't suggest it though for obvious reasons. They're just made for specific sizes. You're pretty much risking damaging the card slot and/or the card.

I forgot to mention, that I didn't stick it in all the way. Just slide it in, far enough until your computer recognizes it. In my case, my card was still halfway out, so getting it back was no problem.

But seriously, the newer dell inspirons have this feature but the older ones (like the 6000 that i am using now) dont. It pisses me off that all i have is SD when the new ones have the bagillion-in-one readers in the same physical space.

yeah, that happened to me at first but this makes as much sense to me as removing the ground pin from a three pin plug to jam it into a two pin outlet; it will work but it is not intended to operate that way and might cause damage.

ah reminds me of the good ol southern hospitality. I too try to do these things when possible. I feel like everytime I step out into public I become a rep for black america, and for college students everywhere. So I try to act above the negative stigmatism associated with each.
