I got lucky and snagged one off ebay for 35 bucks.

And yes that part is your problem. 100%

if you know anything about electronics or circuitry I'd look at repairing the problem yourself, or atleast making it less likely to become the problem again.

Well the problem with this is that these window amps notoriously go bad. They just give out over time. There's really nothing to fix. Just replace it. Done.

In about 10-12 years it'll prolly go bad again....just replace. done.

Just to chime in, it's not always 100% the little white amp box. In my case the window motor just died completely.

Good point but if you own a 95 then it is about 98% of the time the problem

there's one circuit in them that fails most of the time, and its an easy fix. happened to me.

... well since most of that info was useless, I'll go ahead and post.

Unplug the window motor. Wire it directly to the battery with some lone wire. 1 to pos, 1 to neg.. to power the motor directly, and reverse. the wires you're plugging into the motor connector. If the motor is fine, borrow a buddies amp and window switches.. I replaced my amp, and bam it stopped working again.. turned out the window switches were fucked up. So before you go replacing shit.. make sure it will actually fix the problem first. If I find the amp I had (1 week old), you can have it.

If you've got a clicking noise and no worky for the window, it's 99.999999999999999% of the time the window amp.

There's always going to be exceptions to the rules....but I like my odds.

Oh and DJ Sunrise, you may want to keep that amp. The second you get rid of it.....well you know.

Ok I tried to fix it but I don't see any broken connection.so is my amp bad or what? I don't get. I don't want to spend 75 and find out that it's not my amp.

Did you check your motor before you go any further? My amp is gone, but the motor was done also. The wire got caught at the gear, which overdrive the amp and burned the motor in my case. Now when I plug a new motor in, it will run for 2 secs then die again.

well if youre not too anal about things then mostly all nissans and infinitys use the same amp/connector. the only differance is the mounting points.

i used my friends 14 for a day and just my luck as soon as i roll down the window i had the same problem so i used my m30s one first. when i had a chance i swapped it out with an s13 one and still works fine to this day. only other problem he had was his drivers side switches went out a couple months later. usually thats the problem with 96s though (i think the amp is built in to the switch).

m30 guys had the same problem and said they used j30 and maxima amps so im pretty sure most of the amps are the same. just gotta ziptie it up or make a custom bracket if you need it mounted that badly.

that should save you some money so you dont have to go out and buy a brand new one.

J30, Maxima, and Altima do not use external amps. You can use M30, Q45, or G20 though. Same piece, different bracket.

That's the amp talking. You've got a short in it. Did you try taking off the door panel and playing with the switch to see if you could get it to work? Try it. Take the panel off, plug the window switch back in, turn your car to the on position. Then wiggle the connector at the amp, does it work intermittently? If it does, replace amp.

Or you can try to 'repair' the amp, I have no idea how to do this because I've never tried it. Mainly because you can find used amps for 40 online, or new for 75. If you don't have the cash for it, just leave it up and don't go through any drive-thrus for a while.

Good luck.

got a amp off a g20 today,
same thing

my cousin opened the window motor and found out the "black voltage regulator" was the problem

we made a little wire jumper and bypassed it, then it WORKED!

so i just used it to reinstall window up

now to find a new motor
or that little chip

I was gonna post as well that I pulled an amp from a 1990 G20 and although it has different part numbers, it does work.

Part numbers are different because the bracket is different.

Glad to see that you found the problem. It's curious that the motor would have a problem like that. I wonder if it's due to environmental damage. Maybe rain over the years, compiled with deteriorating weather stripping.

This is the latest search I did on ebay for a motor.

http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=bs&sbrftog=1&dfsp=32&from=R40&satitle=95+240sx+window+motor&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&fmmk=&fmmd=&fylo=&fyhi=&mppfqy=95+240sx+window+motor&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sabfmts=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&sass=&fsop=32%26fsoo%3D2

Looks like it's not gonna be a cheap fix.

Good luck.

Welcome to Earth. Only 89-95 models used the external amp. You can trigger the amp with just a ground signal to see if it's the switch, or run reverse polarity to the motor to see if the amp is bad.

man iv had this problem since iv had the car. i would put the window all the way down an it wouldnt go up. i would have to play with the switch for a few secs than it would go up fine. Than a few months ago it stayed down an wouldnt go up. I gave up after like 20min went inside came out like 30min later and it worked. Im like wtf. I always thought it was the switch till last tues. it got stuck half way down and still a week later wont move. so i hooked my friends switch up to it an still same thing jus clicking from the amp as soon as i hit the switch. Passenger window works fine on all switches tho. Never thought to try his amp to see if that was it. So im guessing im gonna try the amp first. Hopefully thats the prob.

I remember reading somewhere that the real problem is the window buttons in the '95's which wear and get stuck in the down position and burn up the amp.

I grab amps every time I find G20s and s13s at the local wrecker, I think I have 4 spares now.

I thought mine was the window amp til i swapped it out with a working one and it still didnt work.
Then I tried a different switch. no go.

I took apart my power window motor and replaced the contact points for the motor.
If that makes any sense?

because theres the rotating thing on the inside and theres two things that contact that rotating thing. I replaced THOSE.

sorry for lack of better terminology.

ok so my window hasnt worked since i got the car a few months ago,the amp clicks so i thought it was the motor, took the motor out cleaned alittle bit, tried it and it worked for a sec after jiggleing the plug to the amp, then stoped .so then i took the motor and pluged it to the passenger side and it works fine. so my question is if the amp clicks is it bad?? and if my amp is bad can i bypass it or do i need the amp?? o yeah i have a 95 s14

My master window switch is broken, so I bought one from a 97 240sx, the problem now is that the actual plug from my car bigger than the window switch from the 97 240sx. . . is there is any where I could make it work?
