O..M..G!

I just drove a 300zx twin turbo. I love it. I gave her a little gas in 2nd up to about 5,000rpm and just grinned from ear to ear.

Power oversteer in a 400+ hp car is a big issue, especially on ****ty old stock rubber.

HICAS is VERY odd feeling. The cars angle changes slightly but your not really running a slip angle, the rear is still just rolling along. Once you do start to run a slip angle... ****.

Took some getting used to but I like it. Very stiff, engages near the floor and is a very short engagement point...you either go or you don't, no real inbetween like in a standard clutch. From a stop is tricky, but gear changes are wonderful. Definitely a race clutch, I'd not want to have it in my daily driver.

They are extremely fun cars. I'm on my 4th one right now. :D
Personally, I like HICAS.... you get a floaty feeling for a split second and then the car just starts to dig in the corners. Such a great car, so far ahead of it's time in 1990.

your friend should get this doo-hickey that disables HICAS and stabalizes the rear end of the car. everybody at the track that i've met has disabled that thing. anybody know if the early 90's (92??) class champion (GT2?? GTU??) Z32TT had that thing enabled or not?

Well for me, while autoxing I leave the hicas active. Mainly because under 70mph it's pretty fun.
At the track though I disable it ( by pulling the connector on the unit), because I don't want it kicking in over 100mph and then for some reason I think it's something else and I try to correct the feeling. A lot of Zer's will gut the system completely ( about 40lbs.).

Its more likely that you're feeling the effects of bad HICAS tie rods than the actual HICAS doing anything. The HICAS itself is pretty subtle. Have the rear tie rods checked and see if they are bad or not. I'd bet they're bad.
