K I just rebuilt my Ka24de(out of a 240sx) and I can start it but I notice a leak from the back of the engine where it meets the tranny, the leak only comes down the passenger side of the motor and I'd say its quite severe(for example I'd say 5-10 drops in about a min while the car is running).

when i rebuilt the motor I replaced the rear main seal and tighten the retainer bolts down to factory spec(I think it was like 7-10 ft/lb). the weird thing is it only leaks when the motor is running, when the car is off there is no leak(besides the residual oil that is there from the leak which is maybe 1-2 drops).

Does this sound like I install my rear main seal wrong or is it just the oil pan?

be more specific as to where the oil is leaking from. Around the head?
You mentioned the rear main seal. Is it leaking from with in the bell housing?
Be as specific as possible.
Pics help.

I had a mis matched head and front cover/oil pump on a KA rebuild which caused a similar oil leak. It was due to one bolt, right behind the dizzy, not lining up with its appropriate hole in the cover and oil leaked right out of the head.

It eventually lead to the demise of that motor. $2000 in the dump. FIND THAT LEAK!!

Sounds like a bad freeze plug or head gasket that is leaking under pressure.

Do you know exactly what is leaking? Like oil/coolant/tranny fluid. Id get it narrowed down to that first.

Also, clean everything really good before you start it and check again.

Sorry I wasnt clear guys :D Its leaking from where the engine and the bell housing meet up in the back of the motor on the passenger side and its oil not any other liquid. I did use a gasket for the oil pan and but I dont think that is the problem as the front of the car is jacked up and it doesnt leak at all when the car is not on.
