View Full Version : dropped my oil pan the other day cause of spun bearing....pics inside

so as some of you know my sr spun a rod bearing :fight056....we didnt really know how bad it was so we decided to drop the oil pan and see whats going on....what we found isnt too promising.....

and the worst, after draining all i could and it settle to one side.......:(

Your shit is toast. Look at it this way, its just an opportunity to build up the bottom end.

assuming it didn't waste the crank, and the turbo you might be able to rebuild it.
Most likely you had oiling issues which caused this.

its funny, the car drove perfectly fine, sounded fine at idle and everything, you only heard it if you pop the hood and rev to 3k

I would rebuild or replace EVERYTHING that sees oil. With metal shavings like that they more than likely got everywhere. Better to just rebuild it all or replace it than put it all back together and have something contaminate your fresh motor with shavings.

It could have been an oil pressure issue, possibly low oil level. Maybe a long term wear issue depending on how many miles the motor had on it.

yes i plan on rebuilding the whole entire engine.....bout to shell out some serious money :-/

make sure you get that block hot tanked so the oil galleries are cleaned out
good luck on the rebuild, hopefully the crank can be polished or turned

Yeah looks all Bearing no steel. Just hope that you have no scoring.
