Besides drastically increasing the amount of pollution your car gives out for a few measily HP, no problems should occure.

I wouldn't even consider this for a street car for these reasons:
- A few Hp is nothing
- Extra noise
- Huge pollution
I mean seriously, even if u don't care about the environment and all the harm you're doing for no reason; it will be louder.

it will sound REAL bad from what i've heard. I'm running a hotshot header with an N1 Dual and i can't even imagine how horrible it would sound taking out my cat.

Hey MorganS13, I got a similar set up but with an HKS Hiper. I was wodering if you have a highflow cat or OEM? Does anyone know if it would make any real difference in power? I really don't want a real loud noise for a few measely hp. The car's gotta sound smooth and sexy.

gains to be had from removing or replacing cat with high flow unit are in the neighborhood of 1-2hp.

Yeah, it's definately not worth removing your cat. For one thing, there's more polution, for another, it will smell like ass, also, you'll get that nice black bumper. Oh, and don't forget the loss of low end due to low backpressure.
Btw, Tnord, that is one of the most disgusting Avatars i've ever seen, hahaha

What the hell is it?
Agreed on all the reasons for keeping a cat. It just isn't worth it.

it's my cambodian friend cha, who we call by the name "sneeky" for reasons that wil remain unknown. it's halloween at the University of Wisconson and 6 of us are dressed as monkeys (although we are commonly mistaken for bears). it is 7pm, and sneeks still wasn't feeling well from the night before, so we made him slam a bunch of beer so he puked and would feel better. my avatar is an action shot of just that happening. there are many more pictures and stories to go along with 5 white guys and one cambodian in moneky suits, but that's another story for another day.

I always thought that the HS header removed the cat. The one that is connected directly to the stock exhaust manifold. The second lump of crap under there is the resonator, which I think is what you are calling the cat.
And why is everyone against removing the cat? Isn't it a fairly common practice to do when you swap in the SR motor (since the downpipe removes it anyway)?

That might be so if your cat was new. But I'm pretty sure that with an old cat to a new high flow one it is higher. But a new OEM one would give only a little less than the high-flow one.

Does the Hotshot header remove the cat? i wasnt sure if it did or not...the only reason i want to get rid of it is because the exhaust i want is a full exhaust, it's a GP Sports, and i dont think it'll fit with the cat on...
heres a new question then...should i not get the GP Sports exhaust and stick with maybe an HKS one and get a high flow cat with the hotshot header(if the header does not remove the cat)
thanks for the replys
