What a concept! How reasonable is this?!

Like a lot of folks in this state, I have a job. I work, they pay me. I pay my taxes and the government distributes my taxes as it sees fit. In order to get that paycheck, I am required to pass a random urine test with which I have no problem. What I do have a problem with is the distribution of my taxes to people who don't have to pass a urine test. Shouldn't one have to pass a urine test to get a welfare check because I have to pass one to earn it for them? Please understand, I have no problem with helping people get back on their feet. I do, on the other hand, have a problem with helping someone sitting on their Behinds, doing drugs, while I work. . . . Can you imagine how much money the state would save if people had to pass a urine test to get a public assistance check? . . .
Something has to change in this country -- and soon!

Welcome to the world of bull and shit.

Nothing will ever change. It's the harsh reality that nobody can change. There is so much other shit that your taxes go to pay for that you would hate to know.

I was gonna say who cares if people are on drugs, then i realized that if you're on welfare you probably can't afford it too well.

oh
actually

if u work at a private job, thats where the analogy falls apart

your employer administering the test would be a private entity

taxes are distributed by the government- public entity

i must note that some crimes will render one ineligible for public assistance

drug charges may fall in that category, speaking generally

too lazy too look it up

Well then the government would have to spend more of our tax money on millions of said drug tests. To keep up with the increased demand of (synthetic urine/pass a urine test drinks) companies would outsource to China and they would become the leading producers the drinks and possibly the tests too so our gov. would save money. Not to mention the hiring of more useless gov. employees to oversee the tests so in the real world it would be a lose/lose situation. Can't we all just vote against free money for useless people.

I think they should just limit welfare checks to those with jobs or is out getting a job that is taxed. But if it was all up to me, I would just get rid of the whole welfare and backing up lazy people plan. Too bad it would never happen.

well first off, it fucking sucks to be poor, so no hating on what ppl spend their welfare checks on, regardless of what taxes are spent on what

secondly, there has never been a human civilization w/o "drugs", so yeah point the finger elsewhere

Sounds like someone took it to heart enough to make a name to post once, yeah it may suck to be poor but don't be a mopey fuck who sits around all day and feel sorry for themselves, or one of those people who live off welfare, get a fucking job!!!!

I wouldn't be quick to judge on people who live off of welfare my neighbors have welfare, because the lady can't get a job she has a 10, 12, 13 and 15 y/o she has to take care of the husband is blind since 5 years ago, diabetic, dialysis 3 times a week Monday Thursday and Saturday. She does what she can to get money though. When she can she goes to collect cans, she sells at the swapmeet on weekends, good kids. Nice Family. Very religious. No pot smokers, drug dealers there. =]

Lots of people do abuse welfare though and, I see your argument in that. Just don't think all welfare people are like what some of you may think all of them are.

cost of randomly testing people on welfare + cost of administering such a system + money stolen by corrupt people administering such system (there's always a few) > savings of kicking people who test positive off welfare

the cost to run such a system will come from taxpayers money, catch22

well first off, it fucking sucks to be poor,

It also fucking sucks to get a shitty job having shitty people tell you what to do for a shitty paycheck but if nobody did it welfare wouldn't exist for lazy people to live off.

Why can't the family help out with watching the kids or husband?

Why can't the family help out with paying bills?

What about the church and donations?

If my mom got hurt it would make more sense that my family and I would take care of her than some strangers who don't know or care.

this thread makes me think of this

http://www.crunchweb.net/87billion/

and what would happen if we took all the money mention there and just started using it for shit that made sense in the first place. like helping children learn how to read and speak properly. or feeding the poor and using it to build affordable non ghetto housing for people who need it.

To quote Gandhi, "Be the change you seek in your world."

Before our elected servants will change the statutes of our political state we must change our thinking.

Know who you are and who has and/or does not have authority over you. Know the statutes you are, voluntarily, bound to better than the "Authority" who is supposed to up hold those same statutes which you claim to follow.
