I <3 this woman. Why can't she be one of the candidates?

(CNN) -- Cindy McCain is trying to show a more personal side of herself to voters, one which most people wouldn't expect -- a life-long passion for car racing.

Cindy McCain says she's been a fan of racing since she was a little girl.

McCain, wife of presumptive Republican presidential nominee John McCain, is a multimillionaire and heir to the Anheuser-Busch beer fortune. She may not seem like the typical racing fan, but she's loved the sport since she was a little girl.

"I was the only child of a Western cowboy," Cindy McCain said during the Indy Car race in Nashville, Tennessee.

"To be honest with you, he was a very successful businessman but was a true cowboy and loved to do things. ... And cars were his passion and, of course, that wore off on me," she said as she remembered her father.

While riding shotgun inside a pace car, McCain recalled the days when women weren't allowed to spend time on the track.

"The first years I started going to Indianapolis, women were not allowed in pits or in gasoline alley," she said. "So I had to hang on the fence. I didn't know any better in those days because that's the way it had always been."

And her favorite race care driver?

"I'm a huge fan of Danica Patrick," she said. "She's a woman, and she's excelled ... in a very difficult sport for a woman to compete, and she's done well, she's held her head high. She's just a great inspiration to women."

The potential first lady's trip to Nashville wasn't just to show her love of the sport; it's part of a greater effort by the McCain campaign to personalize her and reach out to women voters.

John McCain held a women-only town hall event in Hudson, Wisconsin, last week, where he touted the progress women have made over the years, calling attention to the first female speaker of the House and Hillary Clinton's run for president.

At the same event, Cindy McCain joked about her secret to shedding the pounds.

"Do you want to know how to lose 30 pounds? Help your husband run for president. I am standing here in a pair of pants that are two sizes too big," she told the all-women audience.

Back at the track, Cindy McCain opened up about her family life and what it's like having a son overseas.

"When I look at a group of women and know so many of them have their children that are either serving or about to go overseas to serve, I know how it feels," she said.

McCain, who has long been involved with charity work and relief organizations, said if her husband gets elected in November, she plans to continue her humanitarian work and encourage others to follow in her path.

"Government is not the answer to everything," McCain said. "Americans are so good at giving themselves and giving their time. I just want to keep encouraging people to keep doing that."

McCain has traveled to Vietnam as part of Operation Smile, a nonprofit group that mends children's facial deformities, and she plans to spend four days in the war-torn African nation of Rwanda this week. The trip, organized by the nonpartisan ONE campaign, will visit USAID health clinics, schools and an orphanage.

I dunno how someone from AZ would make frequent trips to Indiana.

Just because you served in the armed forces doesn't make you fit to run a country. Especially if you were a POW for as long as he was. You gonna tell me you wouldn't be a little "off" after that?

I also cant stand listening to him. His stage presence bores me to tears and... his voice sounds like a 1930's horse race radio announcer.

Plus, Obama had some pretty kickin hair.

Umm ok so you think a candidate serving his first term in the senate with more abstains than actual votes, voted the most liberal senator in the senate and promising a huge increase in taxes makes a better leader than a man who has proven how much he loves his country by spending 5 years in a POW camp being tortured, and over 20 years of experience in the Senate.

My point is Obama has done nothing for this county McCain has laid his life on the line for it. For all his talk of "change" Obama hasn't done shit so far. So what if McCain is alittle off, I'd rather have a grizzled old war veteran who is a proven leader in charge over some little snot nosed socialist who wants to increase the size of government in your life exponentially and taxes along with it. Who do you think of the above will all the nuke wielding nut cases in the world fear and respect more? Bottom line the President of the U.S. should have cajones.

Did you seriously say that you don't care if your president is a little off? I mean, I don't know whether McCain is or isn't, but wow.
Uhhh, so far in the history of the United States the most successful presidents have been presidents with business and economic backgrounds, not military guys.
Running a country is like running a big business. You have to be a good leader and make smart business decisions.
Whether the candidate served in the armed forces shouldn't be the main point for voters to base their vote on, though sadly to many voters it means everything. Why do people constantly expect America to be in war? The president should do his best to prevent sending his people to war, unless it's inevitable.
I don't get why people put so much importance on military background. It's not like the president goes out there and fights with the people he sends in, this isn't 1665.
The fact is, any idiot can work their way up through the military. Also, anyone can be a POW when they're forced to, I don't see how being captured and held prisoner has any correlation to being a better president.
As it is right now McCain's economic policy is terrible. Not that I care much about Obama either, but at least his economic policy is semi-decent.

The fact that their age was different is really irrelevant. The point was that while one of the candidates was flying jets in combat and being tortured in a NVA bamboo cage when he was younger as proof of his dedication to this country and its ideals, in other words he put his ass on the line for what he believed. The other candidate can't even touch that and was dicking around in college smoking weed tossing around socialist ideology with his schoolmates. Talk is cheap, McCain's experience validates him for me as honestly wanting to make America the best it can be and willing to do whatever it takes. Plus it shows he's no pussy, and yes that matters to me as leader of my country.

That's a very big assumption. People don't remember the draft. Either you choose the navy or air force, or you get assigned to infantry.

Plus not everybody in the military wants to be there.

We'll never know what somebody's mental state is, but remember back then if you didn't serve, you went to jail. After the facts, you can spin however you want, but it's not like now where you sign up for military service.

And even then, recruiters are getting in trouble for giving false information to impressionable kids so it's not a clear cut decision that everybody with military experience is a war hero.

EDIT: No disrespect to people who serve or served for honorable reasons.

It's completely relevant unless you have managed to manipulate space and time.

They both went to HS at the same age. Went to college/military same age. McCain went on to Vietnam and Barack went on to teach at law for 12yrs.

I'm not defending Barack as I don't really want ether of them as President. But, Time Shift Fallacies piss me off as Misinformation.

Umm first of all McCain graduated from the Naval Academy in 1958 which means he started there in 1954,so he made his decision long before the United States entered Vietnam. His father was also an Admiral. No one just gets drafted and ends up a fighter pilot, the training and selection process is very strenuous and designed to weed people out.And the draft is primarily concerned with enlisted folks, those in college get an exemption while they are in school. Those with college degrees go to OCS and become commissioned officers primarily. "Everyone chooses either Air Force or Navy or goes infantry"? Thats just flat out wrong, depending on which branch you are in and what your ASVAB scores are that specific branch puts you in a MOS they have a need for and you will best fill. You do realize we have five branches right? Navy, Army, Marine Corps, Air Force and Coast Guard.Doesn't sound like you have a very good grasp of how the military or the draft works man.

Simple fact:

Anyone can join the Military. Not everyone can go to Harvard Law.

Recruiters called me last night. They were like hey what are your plans now that you've graduated. I was like "go to college". They were like "yeah, and how are you going to pay for that?" I was like "My parents are paying for it" and he was like "what if I told you we could get that paid for you?" I told him he should talk to my parents about it. Then he tried to get me to give him my friends names and phone numbers so he could call them and told him if I get a friend to join I get free swag and I was like good day sir. Anyways you don't hear of Harvard recruiters trying to take anything they can get.

Don't get me wrong. I love and value our troops and their service and have a lot of friends in the armed forces. It just isn't for me, and I think their recruitment tactics are a little off kilter.

I fail to see the comparison here.
Having a potential first lady who's into cars is way better for us than some celebrity crashing into trees and turning people into vegetables.

It puts a positive spin on a hobby that the media has traditionally used as a scapegoat for any number of fear stories.

This would effectively make her the anti-Nick Hogan.

Cool keep ignoring the fact that the McCain was not an enlisted man he was a COMMISSIONED officer, he went to the fucking United States Naval Academy, most people consider West Point, Naval Academy, and Air Force Academy to be on par with Ivy League schools. The fuck ups you knew I guarantee were not commissioned officers who attended service schools. You know why? It requires a recommendation from a U.S congressman, or a Medal of Honor recipient to even be considered for attending any of the above schools. Not to mention he took it even further by going through flight school. You cannot just sign up and be an officer and fly jets it doesn't work that way(flight will be at least an additional 2 years on top of those 4 years of college), those recruiters are trying to get you to ENLIST, like as in be an E-1 THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE FUCKING TOTEM POLL. Quick question? Just wondering why Americans are so afraid of higher taxes? All that means is the government has more to spend. Go to Europe sometime, before I moved to the US I remember getting 50-60% off per paycheck in Germany. Then again everyone has free healthcare. I know people hate politicians and trust me, my loathing toward politicians is on par with the great Dr. Gonzo.

In all honesty, this Obama character doesn't seem like the corrupt political type. I say that with a good bit of skepticism because politicians could just be getting smarter.

LOL, but John McCain and Geroge Bush have never gotten by on their own in life without the assisstance of their fathers and grandfathers.
Obama has 1) taught law in Chicago University. 2) excelled in some of the best schools in America. 3) worked as a civil rights attorney. And 4) wrote two books. John McSame's claim to fame is flying an airplane trowing bombs c'mon thats not a soldier. john karry was a real soldier and look what the republicans did to him in 04 with the swift boat ads, mccain claim to fame is having electrical rods attached to his balls, while his ass was rammed with a broom stick, in Vietnam. Voters: you decide!

i got this from a book that i read about mccain..John McCain- he crashed 5 us planes,One inwhich he flew into power lines. He was always flying to low. One time it caught up with him, thus he was shot down and became a POW. He graduated 884 out of a class of 889. He graduated 5th from the BOTTOM!..that is either super dumb or super lazy neither is Good if you are trying to be president!! Dumb and Lazy... He dumped his cripple wife to marry a rich one.

She and jack then rebuilt a nissan 240sx, installing a tricked-out engine and other parts conducive to drifting (the car is not street-legal). They even competed in amateur drift competitions in the u.s. As a mother-son tandem, finishing as high as second place.

How long have you spent in iraq or afghanistan ? I spent 3 years of my life away from all the little things you take fogranted... Like sleeping at night and not having to worry if the tent your in is going to have a 105 shell land in it. Or missing your daughters birthday, xmas, or wifes birthday, anniversery, or just being able to say im safe at night.

I thought so ! Eat a dick, I have all the right to vote. Defanatly more than you !:mrmeph:

you chose that life bud, not like you were drafted or anything. i could say the same for you, how you could take the military for granted and using it as a crutch. i wish i could be military, but 3 years ago i didnt ask for a severe accident at work. i was about to enlist right before it too. :-/

Pblesh85

my argument was not to use the military as a crutch, but to respond to the statement that I should not be able to vote. I was pointing out that ive put my time in to earn my vote.

And I hear the "You didnt get drafted", enough at work I dont need to hear it on hear.

Good thing all you have to do in america to be able to vote in america is be a citizen and 18...and not a felon depending on where you live, doesn't matter what you do for a living voting rights are still equal.

You were compensated by the military, were you not?

I think he was saying you shouldn't be able to vote because you're an idiot, not because you haven't served your country.

Im ok with being called an idiot. Just not that I do not have the right to vote.

And fyi, the military hooked up my bank account big time...

I make about $3 an hour, no overtime. If you get sick you dont get to sleep in, you go in to work at 5:30am. Yay for gay ! that is my compensation.

But when I feel like complaining about work to make people hate their job that much more, I just say "damn, I had to go to work to jump out of a perfectly good airplane". Makes me smile. The army has its ups and downs.

Canuck? Yeah, cause Ontario, California is in Canada:jerkit: And if you really know who's running you would know that Cindy McCain isn't running, but is John McCain's wife. So how would you vote for her?

she is opposed to stem cell research, abortion, sex education (she coulda used that herself), and so much more. im not votin for this whore just cuz she likes drifting.

Obama is 17 or 18 in that pic. McCain is over 30. McCain didn't join the Navy till 22 any wasn't flying till 24. Didn't see Combat duty till 30.

I don't see a pic of McCain wrestling in HS or a Pic of Obama graduating Harvard Law School at 30.

Nice racial bias.

I especially like the "we gon play hoop" caption in the picture making obama to be your average jive talking street hustlin brotha. :wtf:

Bottom line the President of the U.S. should have cajones.

get your shit straight.
1obama is not a socialist. he is definantly a member of the bourgeoisie and supporter of capitalism.
2lol! bush is the one who increased the size of government! the so-called republicans for less government!
3 youre from alabama, who did we think you were gonna vote for?

oh shit im alittle late in this thread :coold:
Voters: you decide!

i got this from a book that i read about mccain..
