I would like to salvage/re-use a Shift knob I use on my Supra (Veilside Supra Shift knob) that I'm selling (the Supra) and keep it to put on my Nissan.
Its basically a Nicely Weighted,Greddy Style knob but has a dull finish as well instead of a Polished Finish - Want it as a Momento so I can keep and hold on to.I love it.

Threads Are Way bigger on the Toyo than the Nissan.
What would you suggest I Fill the Knob Hole to be able to re-tap it to Nissans (smaller) Thread pitch??
something I guess won't cause it to Break out or Crumble.

thanks
Stupid I know but Worth it to me.

I put a ton of double sided tape on my shifter....enough to basically thread the knob on and not move around.... works perfectly

Or you could get a plastic sleeve of some sort like at HD and try threading that on to fill the space

well....I thought about that...but how well do you think it would Tap once it does Dry?Would it Crumble?
I dont want to ruin it. Would also like to Reuse it,otherwise I would Just Glue it to the Shifter.

The Tape thing I'd rather avoid even though I'm sure it would work.I'm a tad too anal for that.
Like Driving an ol' G/fs of mine'/s Broken BMW shifter that would fly off Interm.

Also Looking ahead at when i do decide to get a Short Shifter down the road.

jb weld is machineable...you can tap that stuff with lil prob...if i were you...remove the shifter out of the car...and take it to a machine shop...they have the tools and the knowledge to make it happen...

dude, i know it sounds stupid, but that mighty putty shit the sell on TV...

I would swear my mothers soul on this shit. Its by far the greatest thing i've ever bought off a whim at walmart. Its like 10 bucks for 3 tubes there.

But you'll never be able to get it off, so it may not be the best idea anyhow... eh, you do what you want.

IDEA! Get a section of PVC or rubber pipe that fits into your knob, but is a little too small on the shifter .glue it in, then force thread it on.

Helicoil? Might find one that's has outside threads to fit the knob, inside threads to fit the shifter?

dude. go to a machine shop and have them make you and insert to go from the larger thread to smaller thread. it's like 10 bucks, made from steel so it wont break. chances are they already have some.
