Need new brake pads? Any suggestions, or opinions would be helpful. Thinking either KVR or Porterhouse pads.

12oz or 16oz?....HAHA...just had to.

I think you meant Porterfield. I think they're more of a track compound and KVR are more streetable. What I mean by track compound is that they need to heat up before they have a good initial bite which is what you need on the street.

I've had goodluck with Hawk but they spit out a lot of dust. I just about wash my car every week so it's okay.

I'd shy away from metal master. My brother has them on his Prelude and they can't stop on the street what so ever. They are good for high speed braking though.

LOL

IMHO, the Porterfield R4s (s = street, R4 = track) is probably the best mixed use pad you can buy (street, autox, light track). Hawk also makes a great pad if you are street and autox. If you are just street, odds are OEMs are sufficient and will allow you to lock your tires.

my friend had porterfields and faded them...

i use KVR. i did 3 track events (2 of which were drifting), 4 months of daily driving and when i went Z brakes there was SO MUCH pad on them still, i could have used them another 3 and 4 months...no problem. my friend has them as his backup incase he needs to replace his and has no money.

i think KVR are the best. i'm going to get a set for the Z brakes.
on all those track events (even on hot hot days and after a few hours on the track) then NEVER faded. gripped like a madman and NEVER failed me. i would no doubt use them again. best pads i've tried. got them thru PDM-racing too...

GO KVR!

edit: they didnt need much heat up too. braked great in the cold. of course i always try to warm up my pads before hitting the streets or track, but it wasnt necessary for street. on track always do warm them up first..for safety

Well, I ordered some KVR's earlier today. I figured I do autoxing some, and want to have something decent that's gonna last until I upgrade to the 300zx brakes. Thanks for your thoughts fellows.
