Ok, so I bought a nice, clean, prewired SR harness... From a respectable member of course.

Checking everything over.. ( a few months later ... yeah I'm lazy ) I look at a wiring diagram a make sure everything is good. Well from the ecu to the chassis harness... there is no black ground wire. However... the orange/black wire has been extended.

The black wire is cut, and shrink wrapped into the other misc wires.

Am I still good, should I go ahead and extend the black wire (have to cut up my still good engine harness for one wire..) or what?

Thanks in advance.

if it's already been pre-wired why should you have to do anything to it?

is the car not starting? does the ecu turn on?

the ecu gets its grounds from the engine harness in the engine bay. whether rb OR sr they both ground to the intake manifold via 2x 10mm bolts.

you shouldn't have to ground anything at the ecu especially an orange/black wire.......

I guess I'm misunderstood as far as the ground ordeal.

It says it's function is "ground"

Now, all the wires are right, match up, to the guide.... except it has an orange/black wire.. the check engine light or w/e. And the black wire is cut. As in, not pinned... not connected...

My question is... Do I need the black wire? Should I go ahead and solder another piece of wire to it.. and connect it?

Dash connector or main ecu plug?
The main ecu plug has no grounds? you should definitely fix that!
Your dash connector, I would do it too, just because!
Test fit the harness, see what's working and or not!
If it's been pre-wired? You may just need to install the optional wires for check engine and consult.

you do not HAVE to have the black wire on the dash plug wired in for the motor to start if that's ur question

Yeah, I assumed that much.... I went ahead and pinned it anyways. I was just a bit confused.

+1 for you..

Thanks all.
