my friend told me that the 2.0 sentra starter will fit on the sr20, but hes not to sure? but i also read that you have to rebuilt it or just find a used one. do you guys know of any other car (http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=201925#) starter that will fit on the SR? so i can try to get it new and fresh.
thanks.

If you take the internals from a SOHC ka, they will work in the SR housing. No other "New" options are out there... besides getting the old one rebuilt, or buying another used one.

I'd just get the old one rebuilt. It's probably a lot cheaper than buying another one and it sucks having to worry about a core charge. Good Luck

its by far cheaper. a rebuild is usually around 90-100 bucks. an new OEM one is around 600. you do the math.

600 for a starter?
wtf. I don't even think nissan would charge that much.
But whatever, have someone rebuild it. They can make it better than oem!

Rebuild it. Grand Rebuilders in the Valley (here in socal) does it well, for fairly cheap.

well its not really nissan.. its the us dealers that can get them. Since there are no other "NEW" options, they really stick it to you.
but recently, mynismo has been pretty good about new sr parts...like the infamous sr p/s pump that everyone always needs. They USED to be like 400-500 bucks from courtesy, but now they're under 300... still high, but attainable.
