No the top one is the Spec R(aka aero that came on most Spec R's) and the bottom one is factory stock. I actually feel Factory stock with a Gracer lip is sexier than a Spec R(Aero). A Spec R(Aero) is more aggressive though. It all depends on what your after looks wise.

i thinkkkkkk...
that they are both whatever, spec r/spec s...
and nissan offered a optional "aero" package which included the first bumper along with side skirts, valences and a wing.
Yeah, quit calling it a spec-r bumper. Thats like calling the kouki 180 bumper type-x. Its the aero bumper (the blue one).
Also one more thing to make it even more confusing, the Spec-S Aero and the Spec-R Aero doesn't even include the aero bumper. It's just the wing, rear valence and side skirts. The front bumper is optional on all trim levels.

yep. blue one is aero bumper option.
red one is stock s15.

Yup, Dave and Kenny are right. I also agree with them.
And together, we form Voltron.

yea i always wondered that.... most places making it seem like they are both spec-r aero.
but yea its pretty much like the type-x thing... 180sx kouki aero being advertised as type x aero

Though people like to claim the whole Kouki bumper, vs the misnomer type X bumper thing, in this discussion of S15 bumpers, there is a difference.
The S15 Aero bumper only came on Spec R cars. The 180sx Kouki bumper came on all Kouki 180sx's. That is a difference and short circuits that whole arguement.
GO VOLTRON!
Uh, no. Like I already said the Aero front bumper didn't come on any cars. It was a $1000 option on any trim level. Go to any Japanese used car site, you'll see tons of Spec-R Aero's and Spec-S aero's without the aero front bumper.

S15 aero bumper is a sick looking bumper from the factory.

Uh... like, I was not directing it at you. Otherwise I would have quoted you! Though now that you bring it up I will correct you. Being an Option means it did come on some cars, so your statement it did not come on any cars is actually wrong and you contradict yourself later in your paragraph.
Though I have never seen one on a non Spec R car. Usually People who had Spec R cars usually ordered the Aero bumper. I see you live in San Francisco. Have you been to Japan or are you just talking about what you have seen while searching the internet? Just curious?
Lets just say a while ago I was stupid and seriously considered importing a S15 for a daily. So I know a bit of random useless trivia about s15 trim levels and stuff.
I think the reason it's mostly seen on Spec-R's is because like I said it cost about a thousand bucks from the dealer and most people willing to pony up that kind of money on a bumper are usually not gonna be buying a Spec-S.

Hey atom, which bumper is THIS?

Aftermarket, or not, because it seems to be a very common bumper design.
Were there ANY factory S15 bumpers that did not have the license plate holder?

Sorry, didn't mean to annoy you.
I've just seen that bumper style so often I assumed it was OEM.
