View Full Version : What does the Zilvia crowd think of my project?

I know the Zilvia crowd has some pretty dynamic taste in 240's, so i'm curious to hear what you all think about my project. I'm not just panhandling for compliments... I really want to hear what you guys think, what you would do differently, etc...

I've been working on this project for a long time. It's finally just about complete.

The project was to install a silvia front end conversion, vertex body kit, swap convertible doors for coupe doors, and paint the whole thing.

You can see the whole build project here:

Or, here's the bullet points:
Started like this:

What's left:
-I'm not thrilled with the paint job. It looks fantastic from a distance, but up close, you can tell we didn't use a paint booth. It's got a lot of orange peel and airborne particles. So I'm going to wetsand the entire car.
-Then I am going to put the stock spoiler back on.
-I'm waiting for a new turn signal / headlight switch to come before I can drive it far from my house.
-I need to install seat belts and put my interior back together.
-I need to wire the silvia fogs. Anybody know which wires are which from the old popup motors? I want to run the fogs off the popup lights switch in the cabin.
- 10mm spacers on all 4 wheels to get them a little closer to flush.

I won't be getting coilovers anytime soon as my budget won't allow for that, and i'm happy with the KYB AGX and Eibach combination that I have already.

Your car is sweet and I love verts, but it requires a couple measures to make it better.

Step 1: remove Nico banner
Step 2: lower it another inch or two until wheel gap is no more
Step 3: add spacers (which I see you plan to do)

than your done :bigok:

b/c if you go to nico and try to post the word Zilvia it sensors it. Lol, so lame.

Anyway, like I said before, it's a really nice car. Not my choice of wheels and coilovers would have been priority one if it was mine but looks sweet none the less.

I like it.

Just needs some spacers and coilovers and you'll be good to go.

I would have gotten those before the kit.

Anything done to the RB20?

Oh and nice Volks. Good to see a vert rocking something other than Sportmaxes.

thats exactly what i was thinking bigOdom1

honestly i thought it was going on the right track..

until i realized a few things...

1. nico banner
2. i thought the wheels on the car at the time of paint were just extra wheels so you can paint your car..
3. it is still not low enough to EVEN say "roads are to harsh around here to be driving low, so i keep it at this height"
or
"too many speed bumps where i live, so i keep it at this height"

p.s.
atleast you have good taste in tail lights
and you like black cars, just as i do.

Anything done to the RB20?

I wish I could afford coilovers, but after all I just put into it, it's going to be a while before that happens. Maybe I'll steal my brother's Cusco's when he's not looking.

RB20 has a custom front facing intake manifold, FMIC, RB25 turbo, custom downpipe and megan exhaust. I can't even remember all the other little stuff.
I've got a T3/To4E sitting on the shelf next to a Q45 MAF and a set of GTR injectors. I just need money for engine management. That's the next project. For years I've been into the GO before putting any time into the SHOW. I'll get back to that avenue now.

looks good.

No point in making suggestions because you already mentioned you are workin on the flaws. Would look clean if you could lower it a little more, space the wheels out.. I like it spoilerless.

brick headlights would be pimpage as well as 180sx half clear/amber bumper lights =p

Dont worry its fine, the current trend on the forums is big wheels slammed and stretch tires. Might not work for some, but I dont mind.

if your home forum is Nico, thats understandable. Im sure people on there would question you if you had a zilvia decal anyways.

Truly though, that's the kind of input I'm looking for. Thanks for the suggestion.. that would look sweet!

Drop it more, real suspension and remove the seat belt humps on the B - pillars.

I swear there's a write up on 240sx.org, you may be familiar as I see you whoring your car out there as well.

Lastly, ditch the rb20.

adrians_s13

ditch the "silvia" grill and go with a gtr grill, brick headlights, and lastly, a drop accompanied by spacers.

:)

I start wetsanding tomorrow. That will hopefully get rid of most of the orange peel and a few water droplets and airborne particles.

I'm curious. How are you mounting your seatbelts?

I'd also look into a roll bar of sorts. IE:

Seatbelts will be something like this: http://nissaninfiniticlub.net/photopost/data/500/13IM000751-med.JPG

I think that's a Miata roll bar. I've heard they fit reasonably well.
I would LOVE to mount up something like that. It's definitely in the long term plans.

TheTimanator

^^^ thats what I would have thought. I wonder how strong that type of rollover bars is.

No wonder I've been seeing a couple of NICO stuff in Zilvia.. Seems like NICO is going downwards specially comparing the ratio of its members and site views. NICO trying to get attention? Zilvia looks like its coming up along nicely.

Nice car by the way, it looks awesome.

I'm not sure why the pictures link vs. display. I've got the code correct.. I just don't feel re-hosting them on photobucket or something.

Again, it seems people misinterpret my intentions here. I'm not interested in NICO vs. Zilvia. I not here to boost views through links. I'm not here to start a pissing match over which forum is bigger or better or heading in the right direction.

I'm looking for opinions and suggestions. Ideas! The half clear / half amber front signals for example.. NICO seems to have a certain style and it's different than Zilvia sometimes. I'm looking for more diverse input, so I thought I'd reach out to a more diverse audience for input. That is all I'm after.

Rehost the pictures with www.imageshack.us

They will show up with no problems inside [IMG] tags. I'm not sure why the others aren't working.

Again I say: Why do you need our input to build your car?
You shouldn't build it to NICO standards, Zilvia standards, Polka-dotted Unicorn standards, or any one else's standards but your own. If you need ideas, look around at what some other people have done. There are plenty of pictures all over Zilvia and the internet in general for you to draw inspiration from.

Good luck in your build.
