i made some shims today so maybe i can raise it up 1/4 inch on that side to help it get off the bmc.... i have nismo hard mounts.. do you think the engine will still hit all the way over there even tho it torques towards the intake side? doesnt it torque towards the intake side?? lol

It does torque to the intake side

with shims and an engine damper i should be able to get it to work

id also be worried about the heat comin off the turbo that close heatin up the brake fluid and then there goes your brakes. yikes.

Cut and re-weld manifold accordingly

Might want to re-adjust that fitment.

Or super wrap your brake reservoir.

If the shims can sit it a bit higher, you should be okay, but you'd have to install it and boost it to see the flex.

yeh im going to wrap it..

but you guys do know they sell racing break fluid that wont boil over right.... its 80 bucks a quart

hows that "awesome manifold design" working out for you :keke: :keke:

but on a serious note kelly, invest in a turbo blanket for that thing.

DOT 5? :keke:
The rubber in the BMC is still going to melt no mater what magic fluid you use.

They sell spacers that have an angle cut in them. Almost like a wedge. So you can angle it more.

/\/\ what he said. dot5 brake fluid hasa higher boil point yes, but its not totally boil resistant. and that turbo will heat it up high enough. plus there are the rubber seals as the above poster mentioned, and the resevoir made of plastic that will melt. be careful dude.

problem solved...i made my own spacers... i got a 5/8s thick washer and gut a slit in it so it would slide though the lowe engine bolt...

i jacked the other side of the motor up to see if it woul reach back to the bmc.. and it didnt even budge.. i love nismo hard mounts

the brake fluid is actually dot 5.1... and im getting gold film and a turbo blanket so i should be straight.... thanks guys!!!

I've got an exhaust manifold with that much clearance, will I be fine to drive the car around as a daily? I'm worried.

depends on how much give your motor mounts have.. im sure itll be fine tho... if anything get a engine damper

thats not bad..That will work.

You might want to think about getting a shield around the brake resevoir alone. Just a few simple bends will help reflect heat..that plastic WILL melt.

You need a heat shield like the megan racing type. other wise u gonna melt the brake fluid container. happened to my friend , believe me, like this one

i think i got mine from titan motorsports. it was literly a blanket with 2 metal hooks on the bottom u take metal wire and pull the blanket tight and run loops around the hooks walla..
bye the way the s14.5 is sold.

Or you could just buy one of those awsome pas manifolds at 3 times the mark up price. lol

kelly, keep in mind most brake systems aren;t designed for dot5 fluid... that stuff will actually eat away at the seals/lines in the brake system.

He's using DOT 5.1 not DOT 5. The main problem with DOT 5 in DOT3/4 is that they chemically react to each other and gel in the lines. It won't eat seals. but it won't absorb the water so it will pool in the lower part of the system and corrode. Not a problem on race cars that flush their lines after every race.

DOT 5.1 is a polyethylene glycol fluid and will work with DOT 3/4. It's boiling point is 518*F compared to DOT5's 500*F.

I would be more concerned with the seals melting/swelling and blowing out or the res. melting.

i melted thru my bmc with a top mount, now i wrapped the bmc and a turbo blanket and im fine. Another solution would be a wilwood pedal assymbly which moves the master cylinders inside the car.

the mani is ceramic coated, im getting a blanket, and idk if a shield will work but im prob going to get some gold film
