Hey kids! im installing my mirrors for the last time. i have everything, the two mirrors and the switch. the mirrors DO have the wiring on them so thats good right> anywhoo i noticed that the US mirrors (the power mirrors) have three wires that plug into the harness. the JDM power mirros (power folding too!<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'> have 5 wires and they use a different harness. i was thinking of cutting these and matching up the colors of the mirrors. and ten maybe hard wiring the little shits... if you guys know how to wire up these damn things please help me out. thanks again! holla

If i'm not mistaken, you will have to swap out the actual mirror portion before being able to safely drive with them; that is to say, you'll have to gut your old mirrors, gut the new ones, and replace some parts.
US and Japanese cars have different angled mirrors, as a result of our driving on different sides of the car (and the road).

I installed them on my S14. Here's the basic breakdown of everything.
The JDM mirrors have 5 wires as the USDM mirrors have only 3. First off, before doing any wiring, you have to swap out the triangular bases. Also, unless you want to use the JDM mirror glass, which is not as magnified as our USDM driver's side one, you'll have to swap them out as well. They just pop out. So first take off the mirror glass. The disassemble the mirror from the triangular base by removing the 3 screws on the bottom. Do the same on the JDM mirror. Now put the JDM mirror onto the USDM triangular base. If you don't do this, the angle of the mirrors are different enough to where you can't adjust the driver's side mirror very far out. After you do this for both mirrors, the wiring isn't that bad if you have the JDM switch. Basically, you'll have to run a pair of wires to each mirror. Each pair of wires will run to the switch. Hopefully you're switch came with a parital harness. The JDM harness has 2 extra wires than our US ones do. One is for fold, and the other for unfold. This is what you run the extra pair of wires to each mirror for. One of the extra wires from EACH mirror will attach to ONE extra wire on the switch. This goes the same for the other two extra wires coming from the mirrors. Basically, the two extra wires on the switch controls the fold/unfold option on BOTH mirrors. The coloring on the wiring within the doors from the old USDM harness (3 wires) should match up to 3 wires on the JDM harness. Of course the 2 extra wires on the JDM harness is for the fold/unfold. This all might sound a bit confusing, but it will make more sense with wire colors. I'm not at home right now, so I don't have the diagrams. I'll try and post them later to clear up confusion. This was for an S14, so if you have an S13, I would think it would be somewhat similar. Hope this helps.

the wiring it pretty much straight forward and yes it is the same with S13. it is the swap of triangle part that cost the most trouble since USDM version had a little pin (??) in the front and the JDM had that pin in the back. inorder to switch them over you need to do a little drill on the mirror or you maybe choose to sand it down like one of the guys in FA or somewhere which i don't remember, said. i didn't do mind yet since it was cold but i'll do it the comming summer and have it paint to match the color of my car.
