yeah, i've been hearing lots of good about megan and stance, but yeah i think i'm going to end up going with the megan streets enstead of the teins since the megans are more stiff in the front..

do a whole bunch of research. use the search button. there are a few threads with all those in them, and reviews of people who actually have used them and compared to others on first hand basis. i personally was going to go that route when i first decided to get coilovers. went with stance, couldnt be happier, and never looked back.

so take away. use the search button. know its ultimately up to you, its your car not any one else's. do it right do it once. if you cant build quility dont build, it'll end up breaking and enfuriating you.

my KTS have been great.

they have lasted me forever with the springs drooped to shit in the rear.

i like how they feel as well.

but nowadays you have HELLA options on ~$1000 coilovers.

PBM
KBEE
KTS
STANCE...

etc etc

I have KTS coilovers, they ride pretty smooth and I have no complaints about them. So I suggest KTS coilovers. Stance, I haven't tried out yet, but I have heard good reviews about them.

Check out last months issue of Dsport, they had a pretty comprehensive review on alot of coilover systems.

Megan and Stance were not included (Dont know why)

if you are looking for a budget setup that is supposed to have good characteristics, many people have suggested getting koni yellows and ground control collars. essentially, you put together your own 'coilover' and koni's are supposed to have, independently tested, the best characterisitcs of all of the japanese shocks/coilovers in the <2k range.

check out the link for the testing i am talking about.

I would have to say Stance coils are the way to go. I've heard nothing but rave reviews about them. I'm even considering trading in my JIC coils for stance coils.....

i hear good things about the stance coilovers, i'm happy with my set of tein flex's that i picked up used on here tho, they seem like a nice compromise for daily driving use

Considering that you seem to be going from stock suspension to budget coilovers, do you really think that it matters?

(hint: no)

tein flex is a perfectly balanced coilover imo. i couldnt be happier with them. they go pretty low. they ride like a dream, but they can throw down around some corners as well. i got mine for $900, but they retail at like $1500. dont waste your money on the edfc.

if you cant find a deal on those, i'd suggest tein basics ($800) or stance ($1000) with stance being the better coilover. both ride pretty stiff imo, but stiff is very subjective and is different to everyone.

Where can you find these now? People were raving over them a while back and someone was selling them in the advertising section, then they ran out and have no indication that they're selling more...

If you want something that you won't complain about, get something like Megan Streets or something. If you want to rattle your brains, and you are a man, rock something really stiff like a 10/8kgs like PBM.

K-Bee coilovers from Logan @ ASpec.

The price is very affordable and the ride is great for both track and daily.
I got it on my S14 for couple of months with no problems or complains.

Rides better than Tein Basics that I had for my S13, with more adjustability.

Im not an expert, I dont even own a car. But from what i hear is that Powered By Max has some great coilovers and you can get them for $1,000 The street ride might be bumpy though they are mostly for drift.

Save your money and get some good legit coils, like JIC

honestly, when people tell you to go search its' really stupid.... i searched when buying my coilovers. there is no way to tell how much you'll like it unless you ride in coilovers itself. whatever people tell you is subjective.

for me stock was soft and numb

bc racing inverted coilovers. ride is "smoother" to me now on flat roads and more DIRECT as in i can feel the ground so to say. but, when you hit a bumpy road you'll definetly feel the bumps and humps and pot holes your car will go up and down and you'll definetly know you hit one.

i say get anything that fits your budget and what you wanna do. like me for this is my daily driven car so i wanted something mildly comfortable, able to drop the car to whatever i want, and can be replaced on the cheap. that's why i went with bc 75 or 100 bucks for a new replacement shock sounds good to me.

i don't know about any other brands but, i'd say that the top brands will be better but not something a novice like me or most others would know unless you track yo shit all the time.

I saw learn how to drift on stock first, then get coils, if you're at that point you'll easily adjust to the stiffness, test and tune, test and tune,

I know where you're coming from on wanting to upgrade..I'm rocking the stock shit on my 90 hatch and it has been beat the hell up. it basically floats and bobs around the road like a tuna boat. I'm probably going to end up gettin Megan Street cuz I have as they say "hook -ups" but you have a lot of options depending on what you're doing with the car. PBM would be for your track car but if you drive this around a lot and like chewing your food(you dont want to rattle out your teeth) you'll want something a little softer. Someone out there was recommending a pretty legit set up. Koni shock do rock and I think and hear that swift springs rock nicely so if you wanted to assemble somethign sweet yourself there you go but as far as buying coilovers ready to go you do have a lot of options these days.

What if you're not serious about anything least of all cars and drifting?

I've had Apexi N1 Exv's on my car for about 8 months- decent ride, pretty controlled over bumps, no issues.
If you search around, you'll find them for close to $1k... I got mine for a little less, but I think it was an ebay fluke!
If you choose coilovers without camber plates, factor those into your budget as well- you'll need them when you drop the front to keep the camber from going positive! I saw those Teins don't include upper mounts, so that could put them off your list...
Good luck!

isn't there a way we can start a poll going here??? I see a lot of Powered by Max, and a lot of Stance reviews, I haven't tried any but from what I see, the stiffest ones are the Megan Track series, and they're cheaper then most of these coilovers

My Stance just got here, can't wait to install them. After months of searching for what exactly I wanted, the GR+.

Stance
KTS
PBM

The three I was considering. KTS friends use, PBM I've heard nothing but good and Stance, well I felt the best with them, they had exactly what I wanted.
