I think people need to realize there is a difference between being gangster and joining a gang.

seriously, gangs are the mafia's bitch. There's really no money to be made as a gang member. article was pretty poorly written. it was certainly very 1-sided and seemed to be rooting for the killer. some of the things that public defendant says are unbearable dim-witted "ms-13 is a soccer club". you pretty much lose all credibility for trying to insult anyone's intelligence with a statement like that, and you're actually hurting your defendant by admitting he's a part of a notorious gang.

that aside, i do agree there needs to be more pressure thrown at gangs. hopefully all this bad publicity will give the cops some incentive to put things in their proper place.

I didn't get the impression that it was "rooting" for the killer, just stating facts. Read the rest of the stories that I posted, it's only an update out of a larger story. SFgate posts stuff as they happen - sometimes only a sentence long. If anything, public opinion favors the family.
