Hello, Ive had my 1995 240sx for a while now and I blew my starter. I removed it after looking at the manual. But now I am having trouble lining up the teeth with my new one. What do I do, and also what is the cord that runs down the transmission next to the starter bolts do? It looks like a line with a hook at the end. I don't know alot about cars, I dont race/drift just use my car to get around town. I would highly appreciate any feedback, because after a week of having my car sit outside and walking/busing to work is getting to be a pain in the ass.

Thank you.

The hose with a hook is a breather from the tranny. It goes back on that starter bolt you took out.

Sounds like they aren't the same???
U still have the original starter?
If so, place both side by side and compare.
Or post pictures to confirm.

after market S14 starters are bigger than stock ones, and you may have to bend some stuff to get it to fit. I did.

Sometimes. Depends on the rebuilder. If they've used an Altima snout the nose will hit the IACV hardline, I've come across that before. But not all are like that, and not all use a mix up of parts, but verify where you're having trouble and check to see if a replacement one is different.

alright, well I compared the two. I picked this starter off a sohc ka24 on a 91 hatch, then tried to put it on my 95 s14 dohc. The teeth/housing are different. What do I do?

Shouldn't be, the starter is the same from 89-98. But since you're having issues, find another or buy new.

Have your original one rebuilt. Cost me $65 plus 90 day warranty.

Alright, well John lives near me so I went and checked it out. His original starter was blown to pieces. So were gonna go down to some junk yards and get him a new one.
