hmmm its not really that big...

ball bearing turbos do spool better and are more reliable... but i got this at such a steal idc.. and this might as well be a greddy T67 because all greddy does really is take mitsu turbos and put their names on them.. journal bearings arnt horrible.. and if i ever have to rebuild it who cares, a rebuild kit is peanuts..this turbo was just rebuilt too

im not going blow through anymore.. i hear people have bad idle problems.. if i do anything ill step up to a map base setup..

well i mean i have a fairly large turbo.. but with cams, some tuning, etc ill have it spooling before 5k...

its a Tdo6sh 25g.. good for 600hp

id like to see upwards of 430whp

no...its a MSU turbo... pretty much a greddy/trust, just without the logo... its a good turbo that just got rebuilt and now has a W5 wheel ( its twin bladed)

07-01-2008, 10:14 AM
so im assuming its a t3/t67? what lb/ min wheel is in that?

4900 is hi.

i have a 62-1 on my ka24 67lb/min wheel and i hit full boost around 4400, and mine has a p tirm t4 wheel with a .68 a/r..

i was think about a t67 as my next upgrade. but a t4 with a 75 lb/min wheel...

nice build im curious to see some dyno once you get her up and running

It is. but the misconception is that a T67 T3 will be a million times slower spooling than a 2871R.

It is slower spooling but not the end of the world

A GT3076R vs. a .86 2871R is almost the same with good tuning

Let me guess, you clicked on the thread, looked at the pics quick and posted didn't you?

I mean not trying to bash you too hard but read all the responses then decide how "laggy" it's gonna be when it's spooling at only 300-400 later.

weird you had to pull the motor to put the turbo on.... I have never had to do that - maybe its the manifolds design?

the T4 housing might make it spool a little later - but it should be worth it :D

i think if my holset ever dies im gonna go either MHI (Mitsu Heavy Industries) or BorgWarner. cant wait to see ur results.

yeh those are both good turbos... people think that just because mhi uses journal setups the turbo is automatically going to spool alot later and blow up..... thats deffinatly not the case.... MHI is soo good that greddy takes all their stuff and puts their name on it haha

It's not just spool, it's transient response and respool. 3-400rpm doesn't sound like a bad deal until you wait half a second between shifts to rebuild boost.

GT series ball bearing or Borg Warner extended tip turbos....no more stone age stuff for me.
