Description:
I bought this car a year ago with the intent to track it. But once I got it home I decided it was too nice to strip out and ruin so I wanted to keep it. The original motor had low compression but still ran ok, except it smoked like a chimney (oil control rings)... So I bought a japanese motor with 35k miles on it and pulled the motor. I swapped all the parts from the original motor onto the fresh japanese block and in the process I cleaned ALL the parts, the ENTIRE engine bay, did a full vacuum hose job, bought a ton of new gaskets, resealed the oil pan, new fuel lines under the manifold, etc... Put it back together and now it runs great, idle is right at 6-700rpm, boosts solid and pulls smooth. Still on the stock ECU so there is a slight hesitation at 3k rpm, but that is to be expected. This car also has brand new Khumo tires on the stock wheels.
The interior of the car is tan, but in VERY good shape. The only panel that shows any sign of wear is on the shifter panel, there is a little peeling around the edges. I bought a brand new passenger door handle piece ($$) and detailed the interior to clean up all the panels, it looks great. The driver door pocket is there, and works! Everything else is just how it should be on the inside.
The BAD: This car was repainted before I got it, and frankly they did a terrible job. There is a little overspray behind the front bumper and the paint is actually cracking and spiderwebing on some parts of the car. Overall, you will see in the pictures that it's not terrible to look at from 5-10 feet away, but once you get up close you will see what I mean. If I was keeping this car, it would be going to a paint booth next. There are also some tiny dings on the car, but they're all small enough that it would be very easy to get them fixed by the body shop while getting prepped for paint. I will try to point out a few in the pictures below. Besides the paint, the exterior is nice, no issues. The stock chrome wheels are not in the best shape, the finish is coming off and peeling, but they do have brand new Khumo tires on. The rear window seal is peeling away a bit, but does not leak, I have bought a BRAND NEW Mazda OEM rear window seal ($$) but I was going to wait to have it installed when if I got the car repainted. This will come with the car, of course.
Overall, the car is solid. Runs great, transmission is smooth, no problems. The interior is nice, but the paint needs work. I'm not trying to hide anything about this car, and will be as honest as possible about describing it. I think I have been.
