View Full Version : Cost of going USDM S13->1580->widebody

Greetings.
I've been working on pulling together the various funding to execute my master plan for my 1990 S13 240sx. I'll start by replacing the bushings all the way around the car, and then upgrading the sway bars, adding strut towers, and going coilover (currently eyeballing Whiteline). My friend has a pair of brembo crossdrilled rotors brand new in his trunk waiting for me to give him the cash for them. That's going on the front with performance pads.
As far as performance, it's going to be an RB20 or RB25. I'm still working the numbers here... there seems to be lots of disagreement about silly things like driveshaft length that I can't seem to get good answers to.
I plan on getting the power up to around 400 to 500 whp. 205/60R15 tires are not going to put that power to the road, so I'm going to need to get wider wheels. Well, as I understand, I'm pushing it trying to go above 8" wide in the rear. However, I'm told that if I replace the hubs with those off a Skyline or Z32-TT I would be able to put on wider wheels, provided that I go widebody.
If I'm going to be going widebody, I really want to go Sil 1580 in the process. Those look supersexy.
So I guess my question is this. What widebody components exist that aren't godawful looking and will attach properly to a Sil 1580 USDM S13?

do more research
z32tt hubs dont work on s13s
only
NA z32 REAR hubs work
you can use s14 front hubs and spindles
whiteline makes springs, no coilovers (i believe)
brembo does NOT cross drill rotors, outside companies do. all rotors from brembo are blanks
rb20 and 25..go 25, new engine, used in a variety of cars as well. call mckinney motorsports for more info
stock body on s13 can fit 9"s all around. you can go 10" in rear depending on suspension.
in japan you can find widebody parts for s15 front ends. jspec has stuff for s13 rear ends
must be nice to be rich! good luck on your project
btw: your car all ready has strut towers. you mean a Strut tower bar i believe!

Ha haha. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> Widebody 1580 with Rb.
Pull it off and I'll mail you my ear like Van Gogh.

Seriously give consideration as to which bank you are going to rob or what lie you are going to tell mommy. Hard problems first, then worry about the details.
If you got this kind of money go get a R32 from motorex. GTs = 16,000 , I think

Strut towers, yes I meant strut tower bars. I was using shorthand that my friends and I adopted after talking about cars so fucking much. Whiteline does make coilovers -- my friend has seen an Australian magazine test where whiteline suspension components including nonadjustabtle coilovers they pulled off a 1.25 G skidpad test. Mind you, the car was quite lowered, too much so for street, but nevertheless, that handling is amazing.
I can get the RB25 clip for around $2400 plus a small shipping charge... no more than $3000 at the end (for the clip anyway). I've been doing research on all turbo options (KA+T, SR, RB, CA) for a while and the RB is best suited for my goals.
The rotors are KVR/Brembo.
I'm not surprised that my friend was wrong about tire widths, he drives an S14 and thus I'm sometimes on my own as far as the S13 goes. If I can fit 9 or 10 inch wheels stock, that will GREATLY reduce the amount of work I need to do to get the RB in. My main frustration prior to this was the thought that I need to get wide wheels in order to deal with the power output from the RB, and that was going to mean going 5 lug, getting wide expensive wheels and tires, and then all the widebody shit to support that, which means a paintjob because I refuse to drive around looking primered.
In any case, thanks for all your help. You may have allowed me to do this a lot sooner.

The Skyline GTS doesn't exactly "suck balls" but its not exactly a car I would buy if I had $16,000.

yea the r32 is a production period, its the BNR32 that started in 1989 and ended in 94-95. just because its not a GT-R doesnt mean its not an r32.
