Have you ever thought of modding your steelies for a better offset or wider footprint?
V-dub guys have been doing it for years!

"Widening 15's? Whats the point?"
Ok, what if there was a steel wheel you could get for cheap that came in 16" or 17" 5-lug?
16", I don't know of any cars but
17", Chrysler 300C, Dodge Magnum - 17x7 +22

CHEAP! Ebay 300C, Magnum 17's here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=43957&viewitem=&item=190111073614&_trksid=p3907.m29)
Here is a UK site (http://www.wide-wheels.co.uk/Widewheels.html) that shows what's involved with widening stock steelies.
I'm not trying to start a new fad or something, but lets just say I always have ideas popping up in my head and even though I can't/wont follow through with them, I'd like to see it happen.:x:
So who wants to do it and post pics? + rep for you. Just a thought:bigok:

Hmmm...... Looks interesting. Not something I would be into, but could be a nice set of track wheels.

I feel the same way. Im sure someone on here will jump on the chance to rock 17" steelies for <$100.

I remember that thread but no one talked about 17" steel wheels. The 300C/Magnum guys are almost giving these away!

Yeah, the steelies for this price is nice, but to have them widened it's gonna cost too much going through the UK. Looks like the want a little over 300 euros for the process and that wouldn't include shipping. But then again, I havne't priced wheels with this kind of width before either.

There are plenty of places out here that can do the same work. That UK site was the first one I saw in a search.

A local 240sx drag racer did something like this.
He took 4 S13 Sawblades(cause they are the lightest stock 15inch 240wheel). He cut them in certain spots on 2 of the rims and different in the other. He then stuck the 2 differnt halfs together(they like wedged together really tight. And then He welded them together. Its now iirc 15x8 and he runs his Drag radials/slicks on them.
He does some wierd "ghetto" stuff. But, he has had a <11.5 KA-T for 6 years and has one of the 1st AEM boxes for the 240.

Read my mind.
First thing i thought about when i saw the title
Dude why bother you will spend around 500 or more for making your ugly stock rims into wide ugly stock rims, when you can spend another 200 or so and get normal looking after market set of rims with tires.

yeah spending 500 bucks on steelies would make me just wanna go get some fuckin mb weapons or tenzo R
unless you were going for the steelie style.
Or like you know, instead of buying shitty wheels and paying someone to hack them up, you could just go to summit or where ever and get brand new steelies for like 70 bucks each................

Why bother? With that extra $200 I saved, I can do donuts in a parking lot and I don't know, pay for some of that ticket that I'll get... naw, just playing Taj.
I was never gonna buy steelies and mod them, I was throwing the idea out there. My car needs steelies like it needs to guzzle more gas!
Ive already done it for my commuter.
Just take apart the steelies and put a 8 inch wide or higher new barrel = gg.

Holy crap guys...consider the weight.
Stock steelies are HEAVY. The LAST thing you want to do is spend a bunch of cash to make them HEAVIER!
