Well I just ordered an Alpine CDA-7892 and some Infinity Reference 6 1/2's. Has anyone ever had either of these? Where they good? What did/didn't you like about them. Thx.

infinity reference are stock stereo components on some chryslers... they're one steop above the lowest of the low. Don't waste your money, Kappa's sound really nice tho!

nah...I went and bought some infinity reference series speakers from circuit city and I was impressed. Especially if you're just going to be running off your HU, they should sound fine. Better than fine in my opinion. I actually upgraded to infinity 3 way kappas and didn't hear too much of an improvement.

I've got 652i's (or is it 625i) (the two way Reference series 6.5) in all four slots, driven by a JVC 50x4 HU. There is no comparison b/n those and the factory Clarions. Way more efficient and way less likely to distort under HU loads.

Still, I agree that if you want a "good stereo" the Kappa series would be better - but my music is clear, accurate, and audible at 85 mph w/ the windows down. That's all I wanted.

Well, I am not a big fan of Infiniti Reference, but hey, I am running some cheep pioneers up front, which are about equililent. The 7892 you will love, I have the 7893, and it is great. Clean, loud, truely the best piece of audio equipment I have ever owned (it is a little tricky to adjust settings however)

yeah the Kappas are where its at. the guy at a stereo shop told me and I quote "i'd rather go with the Kappa coaxials than the reference components. theres that much of a difference" I have Kappa 6 3/4 all around coaxials in back and components up front and love the sound! crystal clear I really have to play with the eq functions to get them to sound even mediocre

Well I got the Reference cause they were on sale at Crutchfield. Buy one get the other half-price. Also when I bought the Alpine reciever I got another $50 off. So I basically got one pair of them for free. I'm gonna get them installed and see how they sound. If I wanna get some other ones then.....I'll post on the For Sale forum.

It's probably not that good of an idea to ask how good something is after you bought it. I had a pair of 4" reference speakers and my friends have had 6x9 and 6.5" and we all thought they were mediocre at best. For the price I have yet to see any speakers that beat Boston Acoustics. I also like pioneer, I think their bass output is better then most for the price. But for clarity I will stick to bostons for a while

Why not ask? I had already made up my mind on buyin them. I just wanted to know the opinions from people that have listened to them. Also, can anyone give me a comparison to JL Audio TR 6 1/2? I used to have some of these in another car but the rear window got busted out and glass got in them so I sold them. I thought they had real lifelike sound and fairly good bass reproduction. Even though I'm not worried about that cause I plan on getting 2 15"(maybe only one)HX2 Rockford Fosgate subs. Any suggestions on 15" subs would be welcome also. The only brands I would consider for something smaller for subs would be JL W7, Focal, Eclipse, and the Memphis LVS. Thanks.

I have them in my car, they not that bad for $69. I have them in the rear so my stereo uses them for bass and not really vocal. I get my vocal and sharp, clear sounds from my Kappa 3-ways in the front. So basically I get a nice mixed of high and lows that are perfect to MY ears.

But so far everyone that has riden with me like my setup.

edit: BTW, I bought my Kappa 63.5i and Reference 652i for $209...SHIPPED. It's a much better deal than that sale going on at Crutchfield, just compared the prices.

Sorry forgot to ask in my last post...does anyone have anymore opinions on the Alpine CDA-7892?

That's what I thought I was gettin into. So then I could just run subs for the low end.

wow...that's a totally different view of infinity speakers for me. I thought bostons sucked personally, but hey i guess it just comes down to preference. I think infinitys are pretty bassy. I'm not that big on bass so I'm not looking to let the whole neighborhood listen to My BeAtZ Yo! Inside my car, I think the bass coming from my kappa components up front, and Kappa multi-elements in back is very nice. RIght now i'm getting a lot of rattles, but i'm expecting that to end as soon as I dynamat my car. I wouldn't regret getting those infinity references. I've had those in RIGHT before I put my kappas in. They sound pretty good.

kinda OT, you really dont want ur 6 1/2's all bassy, they are meant for the lower end of the highs, and the mid bass...just seemed like people were talking too much about bass...anyways...make a not to yourself when buying car audio that crutchfield is prettymuch a rip off, you can find prices way better than that, even when they have there sales (9 times outta 10) Ive always liked boston accoustics, mb quartz are pretty good too, alpine dd drive componets were really nice(almost positive they dont make them anymore) image dymanics has some nice horn componet sets...i did have some high end pioneer 4 1/2 (i think) and they screamed...as for subs i would personally get crossfire, image dymanics, alpine...it really all depends what kind of sound do you want...like crystal clear, or load as hell with some distortion...digital dymanics makes some REALLY LOUD subs...thats my 2 cents
