I recently swapped an s13 sr red top into my 13. On my birthday to be exact. Got it running after the issues I had. Started to drive it back down to SoCal. I had no choice as if I missed another day of work I was fired. So on my way back down here on the 300 mile trip it started to over heat. To keep from damaging it I pulled over and let it cool. Wouldn't start when hot. So I had to let it cool all the way down. When I restarted the car it heated up HELLA fast. After a little driving it started overheating again. So I cranked the heater on and the temp goes down a little bit. I see a sign up ahead saying the 5 is closed and I'd have to go through the Mojave to get home. I seriously contemplated suicide. Its bumper to bumper and up hill. So I pull over onto the shoulder and pop the hood. I sit there for awhile letting it cool and out of nowhere a CHP is behind me. I'm thinking "FUCK I can't get out and shut the hood. He'll think somethings up". So he walks up and I say "How you doing buddy?" He replies with "A lot better than you" and walks up to the front of my car on the bad side none the less. He looks right at my intake and my turbo and manifold and ask "what's wrong with it?" Now I think he's just fucking with me to get an answer and say. Its not because of your turbo and ref my poor ass. But I tell him it overheated and I'm just waiting for it to cool. He asks if I see his Pit bar on the front of his car. I say yes and then he says that if I don't mind hell push me along the shoulder to the crest of the hill which is about 4 miles and let me coast down the other side as far as I can and then he'd push me to the next emergency parking area. I was like fuck this is a once in a life time chance. So I'm like sure. He pushed me to the top I coasted down going like 80 and pulled into the emergency parking area. He starts to pull up to me and I think he's still gonna fuck with me. But no he just gives me the knod and wave. But then I check all of my fluids and there is oil in my coolant and and coolant in my oil. I do a quick roadside oil change and continue on my way. I had to stop 2 more times and change my oil one more time. Just wanted to be safe. Get home... Get written up at work and want to kill everything that breathes for 2 or 3 days. Havnt driven my car since. But the plan now is to refresh the motor. So far this is what I've got. Nismo Thermostat New water pump Full Nissan gasket kit Arp head studs New multi layer head gasket Plan on having the head and block checked. Replacing every gasket that comes with the kit. And a new oil pump. So my question is if there is anything else you guys would recomend doing right now. I just want it to run well. Really well and handle 14psi. Thanks in advance for the input.

my first reccomendation is a complete set of paragraphs. supporting mods for this would be stiffer indentations. Other than that, your looking at exponential amounts of money. everything can be done. You can handle 14psi with stock everything so that gasket kit and checking specs should be good. get an oil filter relocation kit as well and install before all the other shit, that would be nice. I guess I would really want to know what you want to do with it. Sounds like just stock for the most part.

Everyone has to be a comedian and try to bash. My car makes me poor. I sacrafice a lot for my car. Including a computer so all my post are made via cell phone. Sorry that its not perfect but it works so chill. On the other hand thanks for the input about the oil relocation kit. As for being stock, no I'm not. I have apexi intake, XS Power turbo mani and elbow, Greddy one piece hotpipe. GT Spec 3inch Downpipe and Apexi N1 single tip exhast, light weight flywheel and act street clutch good for 380lb feet of torque. No front mount but I will be getting one before even thinking about running 14 psi. Just looking for anything I might as well do while the motor is out. Thanks Again

haha i was just playin around, but still your not talking huge power here yet. So I mean there is a ton of stuff you can do. But if you realize that for the most part, in the future its mostly bolt on stuff, it would be a good idea to put on a good metal head gasket, therefore you wont have to take the head off again if you want big power. not that it is necessary but a bigger oil pan would be much easier with engine out.

Wow, glad you got some help, and glad you kept your job. Lol @ you thinking your motor's "not stock". Stock turbo/ECU = stock.

Oil in the coolant/coolant in the oil is definitely head gasket. Most likely, if you didn't drive with the car overheated for very long, your head and block will be fine, but it's a good idea to have the head checked. I wouldn't bother taking the block out.

Buy a Apexi, Power Enterprise, Tomei, or HKS metal head gasket - 1.1mm if you want to stick with stock, or .9mm if you want a little better performance out of the boost. It'll cost about $200, but it's probably the only gasket you need if you've already got the 7-layer exhaust mani gasket. It's also the last head gasket you'll ever have to buy, they're seriously beast. Oh, and get OEM head bolts too (they're not supposed to be re-used). $200 or so for the gasket, $45 on the exhaust mani gasket if you already don't have it, and $30 or so on OEM head bolts from West Co Justin, Eddie @ Performance Nissan, or Courtesy (courtesyparts.com).

A Nismo thermostat is a waste of $60 in my opinion, because it doesn't really help anything, but if you want it, go for it. I would say just replace the thermostat you have if you think it's old.

A new oil pump is probably unneccessary, but it's a good reliability thing if you want to spend the $150 or whatever.

Resealing your water pump is a great idea, buying a new one is unnecessary. Usually it's the gasket/sealant that goes bad when they leak.

I would definitely recommend getting a oil filter relocation kit, and an oil cooler if you're feeling frisky. I can put you together the same setup myself and a few others run for less than $150. I would also recommend doing SS turbo lines when the motor's out/taken apart, because it's a bitch to put the water line in with the motor/head sitting in there.

Maybe I wasn't clear. That list I posted is things I already have. So h.g gasket kit water pump, thermo, all that... I already have. The only thing left to get is the oil relocation kit and the oil pump. Then I'm good. Thanks so far.

Water alone boils at a higher temp than anti-freeze and water. If you are overheating water is actually a better option in my opinion.

Obviously water and water wetter is ideal.

Oh and by the way. Thanks for the neg rep. I love it how because someone doesn't want to take the time to read they figure its not english. Ahhhhmazing. As for the posi rep. Thanks. Yes I have been down on my luck recently. But I'm actually enjoying myself working on my car at the shop. Techno and metal all day and working on my car and vettes all day then going to petco and working 8 hours. Doesn't get any better than that. Lol Take care
