Of course like most noobs, I'm probably way in over my head, but I figured what the hell, might as well learn by doing and getting my hands dirty. So I finally tore into my S14 and started gutting it out, stripping it down to the shell so I can paint and rebuild from the ground up after I test-fit everything.

Here's my goal, but I dont expect to reach it anytime soon. I've been reasearcing this for probably about a year now, so I decided it was time to get down to business.

1. LS1 swap
2. full leather interior, new plush carpets, little extra sound proofing (no I dont mind weight in this build, its not going to be a track car)
3. fully built suspension (yes, I know, redundent on a car Im not going to track on a regular basis, don't care I want to build this car properly).
4. Lightweight or OEM Aero, nothing obnoxious, I'll work on this last.

Since Im going to be rebuilding from the ground up, I started stripping her down, starting with the interior. This is the first thing I've ever done with a car, so I'm proud of myself, much like the rest of the noobs. Got all the seats and belts out, all the panels and pillar covers, the center part of the dash, and I woulda had the carpet all the way out, but I need to unbolt the pedals and such to get it out and it was just way too hot today to keep working.

So the results of about 2.5 hours of work in the scalding 110 degree temperatures:

so far so good, no signs of anything but a little surface rust, lets hope it stays that way, the cars been in florida the majority of its life, so here's to hoping. :x:

P.S. wiring scares me o_0

P.P.S. my zenki fenders and headlights are for sale, I have a front bumper as well that I'll be picking up from florida in a week or two if anyone is looking for a stock bumper.

great now just leave it like it is for a while, if people ask, just tell them you are saving up for parts, then you will fit in with 98 percent of 240 owners. just givin you shit I like your ride, and I like that you are starting with suspension. that is smart.

I know you probably won't, but you should think about seam welding the passenger compartment while you have everything out, then do the trunk and engine bay (engine bay after you pull the KA).

Great plans, if you have the $$$ and the time, you can learn as you go :)

Hopefully you already have all the parts and money waiting. If you don't this is really going to be upsetting waiting 3 years to see the finished product out of this thread.

Yah I fully intend to seam weld the body to add some regidity, especially to deal with the extra torque from the V8.

Right now Im lookin around for an engine hoist to borrow to rip the KA and tranny out.

the only thing Ive found bad so far is some light body work/filler and the front end's a little bent from a minor accident it must have been in, I'll post up photo's of that stuff later, gonna go get some work done for the morning right now.

Thanks for all the encouragement guys.

Thread title is accurate at least.

Build first, THEN post.

No halfass 'this is what I'm planning on doing, but so far I've only washed it' kinda threads.
