A couple of days ago, I noticed that my instrument panel was buzzing when I begin accelerating. My steering wheel is also squeeking.

Could this be the problem? It makes an "electrical" sounding buzzing. Could it be the instrument panel bulbs?

Please help....

Do you have a new headunit installed? If you do, its improperly grounded most likely, causing the buzzing sound.

I don't have a new head unit, but a while back I had some indiglo pedals that shorted out one of my grounds on my console. I rewired the ground to a dead bolt. Could this be the problem? If so, how else could i fix it?

By the way, the indiglo pedals messed up my ground on the gear selector light (under console where it shows the gears). I wired the pedals to that so that when my lights were on so were the pedals.

But, since it has shorted I fixed everything, and got all my dash lights, etc... working properly. Would it still be one of the grounds? If so, what should I be looking at. I haven't taken out my stock head unit yet.

Please help...

Okeydokey:
-I don't know how much your pedals draw but you are playing w/ fire (literally) when you tap into existing power wires. The proper way to do this is to buy a relay and harness from radio-shack and just use the existing power wire as a switch. If you want details on how to wire it up then just ask.

The buzzing sounds like a ground loop, try grounding into an existing ground not a new one.

Also check for a shot switch/relay; I had the same problem when my dimmer switch died. Try the above and then move to tracking down gremlins in switches.

Also, the balast (sp?) for neon will feed back into the sound system if not set up right; you might be able to solve this w/ a pair of diodes on the power/ ground; don't quote me though, i'm no electrical guru or anything.

I have the same problem too I found out the perivous owner ground the head unit to one of the bolt that underneath the passager dash when I installed a new head unit in. And I got the buzz sound when I accelerate hard. I tried to hook it back to the wire adapter, and it got even worst Any idea where the existing ground you talking about mrdirty? so I can try to hook all my ground wire over there, because I have like 3 ground wire hooked up one of the bolt underneath the rear seat(it works but still a little buzz under hard acceleration ) I also found out the brake pedal will make a click sound when the brake pedal is press with the stereo on( it also happen to the rear defrost button when the music is on ) don't know what happening, can anyone help me on this one

silvia lover -- that's interesting, because I just noticed now that you've said that...I'm hearing a buzzing also behind me. I think it's my defroster or something electical. I feel like my car's a lighting bug on the inside. the noises are annoying as hell. But, if anyone can provide more advise about which bolt, wire to use for the ground -- It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help!

trust me, that's a different problem all together. I can hear the same buzzing from the hatch area and haven't been able to isolate it yet. I think it went away when I changed to a fubu style antenna though...

The grounding problem can be resolved 2 ways, either find the offending ground and relocate it to the same line as the head-unit or go get a little device that sits in-line of the power line for the head unit and cutts off the frequency. The part is cheap and available at canadian tire in canada and probably a hundred places in the states.
