hey everyone,

i'm new to this forum. I live in australia and own a 98 s14a 200sx (aus spec). What are the differences between my version of the silvia compared to your 240sx that seem to the be same thing...Do your 240's have the same SR20DET that we have?

We've got the KA24(D)E, hence the name. Other than that though, it's the same car.

Is there a turbo version available? how do those engines compare to sr's?

no, no turbo. NA 155 HP 165 torque (i think..for 91-98 models)

americans and turbos never got along..most cars (huge majority) are NA automobiles. some newer turbo modesl have come out lately but due to poor manufacturing and use of crap parts they'll probably be gone soon enough. at least that's what i see happenning

a lot of 240sx people like to turbocharge their KA24E and KA24DE (more common-yet still illegal) or go w/ the SR20DET changover (which is 100% illegal in the United States as well).

not much GO POWER mods for the KA...wont be able to get over 200RWHP w/ NA setup

engine is torque beast strong and reliable. people go SR because its "JDM" and all the craze right now.

that was not the reason behind me putting the SR into my S14....

Well most people do anyways, or I suppose more of the feeling that the car was designed to have it.

USDM S14s also don't all get LSD and none get the HICAS system.

To add on the the US-Turbo thing, b/c of gas supplies and emissions, the SR20DET wasn't deemed fit to sell well in the US. I can't get enough of the KA though, it has a great design derived from a long line of nissan engines.

I see...thanks for the replies. Tis a shame you don't have the SR legal there coz they are a very reliable engine, and great to mod.
