Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me with this problem I've been having. Whenever I park my car in the sun or on a really hot day, it wont start. It will hesitate to start and then I'll have to sit and wait a little bit and then it'll start, sometimes.
The engine doesn't crank at all, it's as if the battery was dead but all the electronics work, the windows, radio and lights work. If I let the car cool down or it becomes night time it'll start up normally like nothing happened.
This is on a 1996 240sx, hopefully someone knows what could be wrong! thanks in advance.

That is the strangest thing I have ever heard. Have you made sure all your grounds are good. Could just be a wierd coincidence with the whole day night thing.

Check starter relay, especially the clutch interlock relay next to the battery. Blue relay bolted to the inners of the fender.

try pouring cold water on your ignition module, or borrow a friends, it may be bad. see if it starts.
My car was having the same problem.
There are only a handful of big things that can be wrong with it.
Check the small stuff first, no loose connections to the battery or at the starter.
make sure your battery terminals are tight. I'm sure your battery is fully charged and fine.
Check your clutch relay. Sometimes they go bad.
Lastly, your starter might be bad. I replaced everything before I singled out the starter. I had a new batt, new terminals, new clutch relay and it still wouldn't start sometimes. A new starter fixed alllll my problems.
IT IS SO NICE FOR YOUR CAR TO START WHEN YOU WANT IT TO.

I accidentally left it outside in the sun for a day and I was going to go have it tech inspected for this weekends NASA event at buttonwillow and it wouldn't start :(
I'll make sure to check all the things you guys said thanks a lot!

If you're going to do that, I'd rather use compressed air than water, but that's just me.
