So i was taking off my valve cover on my sr20 to get it powdercoated, and i was taking the nuts off when one of the washers got stubborn and was stuck. i pryed it off with my finger right above the head, and it fell. im pretty sure its in the head, but i have no way of telling or getting to it...

any ideas on how to fish it out or find it? i just did a head rebuild and theres no way in hell im gonna do it again!

Yeah that sux man. I would take a one of those magnets that is like a car antenna that folds into itself. Just take that and lengthen it and then run it around inside the head until it pics it up. Do you know if it fell into the spark plug well or into the actual head around the cams and valve springs? Either way you should be able to fish it out with one of those magnets. Im pretty sure you can pick one up from your local autoparts store. Good luck and becareful next time. I always cover my cylinder head with rags immediately after I pull the valve cover and never do any sort of work while leaning over it.

Just keep looking and you will find it. Look in the head and all around the engine bay, floor, etc. Even in stupid places line open intercooler piping.
Stupid things happen like that. I dropped a keeper while assembling a gsr head and it took me nearly an hour to find the bugger in one of the valve springs.

i peeked around for a good 20mins with a military grade led light and no luck. it was in the back left corner as if i was facing the car. the problem is theres little pockets of oil everywhere and the cams and springs block everything. but i will try the magnet... has this happened to anyone else?!?
