hey i was doing my 5 lug swap and rear calipers off. then kid that was helping me in all his genius pushed the breaks down and pushed the piston out i tried compressing it but it doesnt seem to want to go back in. so i was wondering if there is a way to tell if its shot just by looking at it

get a needle nose pliers and twist the piston clockwise, or go to kragen get the Powerbuilt Tools Disc Brake Piston Tool, makes life easier. if you see break fluid leak through the seal once you start compressing the piston, you might have to rebuild or swap the caliper out.

just go to your local parts store (auto zone, advanced) and rent ther caliper piston tool. really easy to use.

just put a brake pad on the piston and slipe the bracket under the other side and twist, and it will press the caliper back down.

^ yep yep, just pushing will not do it, it needs to rotate.

What he said, rear pistons turn in and out and front pistons push in and out.
